Maybe clutching at straws, but one advantage over previous windows is that we now have a Portugese speaking manager, which one would hope would be a plus in the players eyes

Ok well that might help point 3, but 1, 2 & 4 won't be changed by that.

Work has been done on a transfer for Damiao to Spurs this summer and AVB likes him a lot. Hopefully it's the time for this to happen

My opinion is still Adebayor and Damiao

AVB can't see past Moutinho once Modric goes

If Modric out, Moutino, Ade and Leandro in is all our remaining business of this window then i'd be very, very happy.

I was thinking the same thing.

Also, didn't they recently sign Forlan? If so then letting Leandro go wouldn't be too much of an issue - even if they have sold Oscar.

Cam Favahopefully when AVB was at the hotel when the brazil squad was there he used his charm on Damiao lol
Spurvert@spurvertwhy do you think he was there?
Cam Fava@fava112 exactly that reason, I hope haha
Spurvert@spurvert correct
I hope Spurvert is wrong there otherwise it's very, very close to tapping up.

Hulks comment that the team hotel isn't a supermarket indicates Spurvert might be correct though.

It's only tapping up if his club aren't aware of it, given the fact we've had several bids in then I don't think we can be accused of tapping up Leandro

OK, lets get this back OT.

Spurvert has been quite active on Twitter over the last couple of hours:
I'd love us to sign Leandro and Adebayor, those were my first choice before the window opened. I think they'll finally give us the qualities we need in attack. Both can lead the line and both offer something different. Adebayor will need stiffer competition this season so he doesn't enter the comfort zone (if we sign him of course).

We've been chasing Leandro for so long it would be rude if he doesn't sign. My only concern would be that he wouldn't be long term, because I imagine as soon as a Man Utd or Juve come calling he'd be off. But i'm happy for us to have a potentially great player even if it's only for a couple of years.

The only reason AVB can't see beyond Moutinho is because he's always squatting. Tell him to stand up and he'll see there are other less expensive options out there. I would love us to sign Moutinho but I just don't think Porto will play ball.

It wasn't Hulk that said that, it was one of his Porto team mates. I'm sure he had a word with a couple of players and whatever in a casual way 'join my cause..' etc. I think it'd be pretty naive to expect him not to have. These guys work in the same industry and they will be friends or have friends of friends. I'm sure on a certain level it is much more casual than the media make it out to be.

Correct, it was Danilo, who quickly backtracked on his comments.

It was Danilo that was alleged to have made these comments which the player later confirmed was a fake facebook account under his name.

Leandro, Moutinho and Ade would be beyond my wildest dreams at this point. I'd be very pleasantly surprised if Ade signs at this point. Fingers crossed. We'd be in great shape if we managed all 3.

Already discussing transfer policies and players that aren't in any tweets. More twitter, less of that other stuff.

Re Spurvert's info, I do not believe we will sign Damiao & Adebayor. Lets say Damiao costs £20m and accepts 70k pw on a 5 years deal (almost certainly what we'd offer in terms of time scale). That's a 38m deal. Adebayor's is going to cost around £24m.

I found it hard to grasp how we were going to do the Aebayor deal in the first place, because there is no inherent value in it at all. Even if we got him for nothing (having agreed to pay him 170pw for the first two years of 4) would still cost us 9m for one year and we'd have to sell him for that after 1 year just to break even. Maybe, like other deals (Gallas, Parker, Davids etc) Levy appreciated that it was worth taking the hit for footballing reasons, I don't know ?

But either way, you can't play both of those, so you've either got £24m sitting on the bench sulking or £38m sitting on the bench sulking.

We just could not afford that. Do not see that happening. Unless there's been some backing and they are keeping it under wraps so as not to mess with player negotiations (hard to believe in the extreme)

It will be one or the other, or neither. Not both. And for me, although Adebayor is the superior all round package footballing wise, from an AVB (system) and financial viewpoint, Damiao makes some sense.
