Yes he has experience of big tournaments but it's only of choking, we don't want that any where near to team.
The next gen team play without fear, we don't need players who don't turn up when they are needed.

He was one of the better performers along with Sturridge at the last World Cup. Agree he's way past his best, but as I said he's going to be starting if he's fit.

I dont agree with that at all. Kane brings far more to the game than Sturridge.
The problem being he's never fit. If he lasts long enough to get on that plane and make it through the tournament I'd be amazed. So how many strikers would you take and who would you leave to accomodate Sturridge?
Kane, Vardy, Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge.
No doubt he's class WHEN he plays but thats the problem.
Mute point really as doubt he'll be available.
Plus we're not going 442.
You can't take Sturridge, Wiltshire and apparently Roy even has an eye on Shaw. Better make sure that hotel and plane have plenty of ramps and wheelchairs.

If all fit, I'd bring sturridge, kane and vardy as the top strikers. Welbeck I'll bring along too as he can play on the flanks in a 433 or 4231.

If it were up to me Rooney doesnt deserve a spot in the squad

The worrying thing is that the players were allowed to play that way after Roy let them off their leashes and the players had nothing to lose
They played really well against France but the team needs to play like that from the beginning and Roy needs to set them up like that

The Netherlands will be a big test as we are likely to see this team

Forster
Walker - Stones -- Jagielka - Rose
Milner -- Drinkwater
Barkley
Walcott ------------------ Vardy
Sturridge

Its not silly to think we play terrible against them and our midfield struggles

Really? I thought we were the better team throughout the game. We were very unlucky to be behind at half time. Lets give the manager some credit for a victory few were expecting.

I know there's a few good young centre halves coming through, but I'd be stunned if England aren't having words with CCV. It's the glaring weakness in the current team.

Agree. Both know he'll be there though even if he only has one knee.

Thats always been the problem.
Decade after decade, Manager after Manager, its been square pegs in round holes. Cant leave him out, he plays for Man U.
We've had top goal scorers in PL playing for unfashionable clubs like Sunderland who begrudgingly get given a place in the England team... out on the fkin left wing!!!! Well he didn't do anything so obviously not up to it at this level lol.
We NEVER EVER pick a TEAM.
Even after that performance its already 'well you cant leave out Rooney'. Then itll be Roy trusts Milner so he'll be going. Oh and Wiltshire managed to walk to the toilet on his own yesterday so he's going.
Sturridge has played 8 games now so no chance of him breaking down (much), plus he plays for Liverpool so he's going.
You get where I'm going.

Thing is that only worked last night because the other players who aren't Spurs have played under Poch or play the pressing game at their clubs anyway.
You cant play that way with half the team doing it.
Stick older players in there who physically cant do it, Rooney, Milner for example and imo it won't work.
Unfortunately I think thats what will happen.
We've got to take it to teams and stop being so God damn scared.
Make them worry about us, not us worry about them.
Kane, Vardy, Alli, Lalana, Rose, Walker, Barclay, etc. Scare the shit out of them :)
Just spat coffee down my top after reading this, thanks! :ROFLMAO:

Wondering when Hodgson will actually get a bit of credit, I know he's unpopular, talks a bit funny and resembles an animal but let's give the guy his dues here for once.

I'm not sure how? that team picked itself and the tactics weren't his, I will go as far as well done for turning up.

the fecker didn't get out his seat when Kane scored.

Good to have Sky confirm what we all saw last night from our 4 Spurs players. Kane and Alli dominated the attacking positions (not forgetting a great cameo from Vardy) whilst Dier and Rose looked the part in defensive areas (despite poor performances by the CB's, poor defensive work by RB although decent going forward and a hardworking but average display by Henderson in CM).

I'd go with a squad something like:

Hart
Butland
Forster

Clyne
Walker
Cahill
Smalling
Stones
Rose
A.N. Other (for me Bertrand or Gibbs, I'm not a massive fan of Baines in the last year or so, Shaw would be too much of a risk)

Dier
Henderson
Drinkwater (for me all he has to do his put in a couple of competent displays prior to the summer, squad needs another deep midfield option who can move the ball and he is top of the pecking order.)
Wilshere (if fit, not looking likely)
Alli
Barkley
Lallana

Sterling
Walcott
Welbeck
Sturridge (again yes, if fit)
Vardy
Kane

Defence is our weakest area for both quality and options, so accept it and load the squad with attacking options. Only taking three centre backs is a risk, but Dier can drop back if needed. I want pacey specialist fullbacks, not out of position utility dross 'doing a job'. Ahead of that a lot of versatile options to choose from with a mix of pace, energy and a bit of flair and technical ability, and players who should be able to press and get stuck in. At this point it is gambling on the fitness of a couple of players, but they are part of a wide set of options and not integral the team with everything based around them. Rooney wouldn't be in my squad currently, and I seriously hope we forgo the usual utility dross such as Jones and Milner, you can pick a versatile squad without including them.

Good idea, perhaps CCV knows some good English centre backs that he can recommend!

I was thinking about Wimmer, if we just put down that his name is Big Kev and that he plays for Stoke, no one will check. Also we have to be thinking of Shawcross as well at this point.

On the so called superstars, arguments can be made for Rooney and Sturridge (if fit!) but to take Wiltshere and Walcott would be an absolute disgrace. Sterling and Wellbeck both go for me, but Vardy, Kane and Alli have to start.

My starting 11 would be something like this:

..............................Hart........................
Walker......Stones......Shawcross/Cahill........Rose
..................Drinkwater.........Dier......................
..............................Alli.....................................
....Vardy................Kane..............Sturridge

His corners were good but that was about it.

Out of position for their first goal. He's a bit of a headless chicken if you ask me. a go out there and run about a bit. I suspect if he played for us we'd be angry with him for not being in position and following out the manager's instructions. Probably the reason why he's been in and out of the Liverpool side since his return from injury.

I thought Henderson looked massively out of his depth at international level.

I think maybe another CB should be in there, not sure who should go out if that were to be done though.

Really? Because before the match started there were an awful lot of people saying he'd got his selection wrong. Stones should play instead of Cahill, Vardy instead of Welbeck, Walker instead of Clyne, etc.

I've never understood why we always need to pick 3 keepers for the squad, as you can always call up another one mid tournament if you get an injury?

I felt in the first half we gave them too much respect, they weren't good but we let them have the ball far too much

A big improvement from previous games but I felt we linked up great at times in the first half and some players were harming us and it wasn't clicking

Welbeck for instance looked lost on the left wing and was frustrating as he would constantly end running back and Lallana though bright at times, seemed like he wanted to be in the middle or on the left

I think we gave them far too much respect

Once Kane scored the game really changed. Germany perhaps had relaxed a bit so when England stepped up play they had no answer. Noticeable that the longer the game went on the stronger we looked and at the heart were our four players ... all of whom Roy kept on for the entire game

I suppose that's part of the problem with playing players who aren't users to playing together. It sometimes takes a while to blend together effectively. I thought Lallana did alright, but there were times when he seemed to get in Kane and Alli's way as they were making the same runs. It's something they'll adjust to as they play together more.
