If the the ITK that the Bale deal has been done is correct, could it not be within the realms of possibility that a deal for Coentrao has also been agreed at the same time?

I cannot see RM being Happy about us announcing a deal for Coentrao without them being able to announce Bale

Not if it's taken 12 years and cost a number of coaches/managers their jobs to do it, it isn't.

Mullers in a project like this the high turnover of playing staff, coaches and managers is inevitable. I don't want GB11 to be sold this year but if it is to be then so be it. What most concerns me is that that the money is re-invested wisely and we could if we play the situation to our best advantage overhaul and upgrade a significant percentage of the team. Obviously like your self I have some doubts but they have been somewhat allayed with the signings of Soldado and Capoue especially Soldado as I was highly sceptical that we would sign him. And at the end of the day what does it matter if the likes of Rose, Townsend Carroll don't get minutes? If we can get better players in the here and now then I am all for that because I don't think we owe them anything and I don't like to tar everyone with the same brush but I get the impression that most players don't feel they owe us anything either. That is most certainly the impression Carrick, Keane, Berbatov, Modric and now Bale have left in my mind.

i would like to think this year it's top four and a trophy that is what we should be aiming for now. If we can actually god forbid get over some of the snobbery we have about FA Cups and Europa and put some winners medals on players we may even get to keep some of them.

You sound like hormonal teenager. Apologize if you are

And you sound like a hypocrite, you slate the media and football fans but yet post on a spurs fans forum and believe media stories and ITK when it suits you.

I think this is a good point.

However, ITK has also alluded to us wanting the deal for Coentrao to be be a separate issue. Something about RM overvaluing him in a player + cash deal for Bale.

What exactly are you arguing against? What do you want to see happen?

I'm arguing that Levy isn't as good as everyone thinks he is. What I would like to happen is for Levy to live up to the standards that he has laid out for the coaches and managers down the years, so far he hasn't done.

Are you saying you'd rather have Townsend, Rose and Carroll than Lamela, Coentrao and Eriksen?

It's a shame that English players aren't very good at the moment, but we shouldn't just keep them in the squad for the sake of it if better players are available and we have the money to make it happen.
I dont disagree, but I would hate the day we end up like the Arse a season or 2 ago with not a single English player on the pitch, I want the best team we can have but would hate a total loss of identity.
Hands up all of us who took the piss out of the Arse, when they had no English players.

Well. You're entitled to your opinion, but that's a discussion for another thread to be honest.

Levy's main job is to bring the club forward and make us a financially stable club. What exactly has he failed on?

I would love us to go and blow cash every window and challenge for the league every year but we currently don't have the infrastructure to do this

That judgement cannot be made till well into the season.

I am not saying this will happen, but if we get to Christmas, and Townsend & Rose step up to the mark, and are playing seasons of there lives, then keeping them in the squad will be justified.

I do doubt that will happen, but in AVB we trust.

The one thing that I can say for sure is that we have had 100m to spend and ended up with Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli & Capoue. I would be happy with that in my trolley after returning from Sainsbury's, even if I still had a couple of Turnips in the cupboard at home.

Not if you make the right appointments it isn't, but if the right appointments aren't being made then usually someone is to blame...

It does matter if Rose, Carroll and Townsend don't get minutes, the objective should be to bring players from the academy through to the first team, thus costing us less money. Or else I repeat why have we been wasting their time, if it's just about instant success?

Don't be a plonker - only thing that slightly bothers me about what Levy & Co are currently doing, is buying so many players it 'can' not will notice, have other detrimental effect on the squad.

Oh and people who continually bellyache about things for the sake of it.

I accept that point too, there has been so much ITK regarding the Bale situation, at complete opposites of that spectrum so that we don't know what is what at the moment.

I just find it a bit strange that we all know that we need another LB, and all that we seem to be chasing in the ITK are midfielders. Makes me think that maybe we already have a new LB.

Anyway ITK??? We understand that we are very interested in Willian and Lamela, Willian has stated he will be gone in the next few days so we should see some movement on that front. Roma papers reporting us in for Osvaldo and Lamela (ITK also said). So we could be looking at a massive signing potentially in the next few days ad were arguing over?? I have £10 on Willian @16/1 so that bugger better come in!!

Lots of things but this isn't the thread to go into it.

I say again then, shouldn't they have been sold already, as AVB seems to have known that there would be a lot to spend before the end of last season?

Selling them before bringing in reinforcements would be daft.

There's also the homegrown quota to consider.

There might be deals in place for them to go, but only if when we conclude our deals on our end. No point in shipping them out without a replacement in place. I think we should keep both anyway - both young and could develop, especially townsend.

We made the appointments according to the managers/coaches and players we could attract at the time. Now were attracting far higher caliber players and rightly so were not the same club anymore. We are to potential player a very attractive option to come play for. Vertonghen/LLoris/Capoue.Paulinho have all said as much that this is a club who's project appeals. Also I think we are losing our cosey/cuddly image that we fostered for far too long and the likes of which some of our English players have grown stagnant in. It is time that people felt the pressure that if they are not improving, striving that they will be upgraded and that may be the kick up the ass the likes of Azza need as a few of his drinking partners have been sold. If we have to sell our best player to upgrade lots of other positions on the pitch then that is the way it has to be. And at the end of the day Juventus lost Zidane to Madrid, Barca lost Figo, Man U lost Ronaldo. If we come out of this with a better squad we can't complain.
