Again you seem to be telling me things I agree with. The only thing I don’t is the idea that all we had to do is snap our fingers to get Hincapie. We simply don’t know that. They probably wouldn’t sell without a replacement, and by all accounts opened with a price of 70-80m which makes our opening bid a bit more understandable. Individual deals are hard. Buying 3-4 players in January is obviously hard. But I 1000% agree we should have bought a CB by now

The athletic said today in the summer we want two centre backs, a keeper and a forward.

Now unless we have a couple of freebies lined up I don't see them paying for the necessary quality needed in those positions.

So much work to do and add to that the uncertainty over the DOF whose position looks to me totally untenable medium to long term and if course the manager. And this is the same club that just took a whole month to close one deal

They're never getting even the top three choices in all this positions which means either yet again we make excuses and kick the can down the road or we get cheaper alternatives in and we've all seen how that usually works

I hope I'm wrong, I really do but there is no evidence to suggest I will be. Plus we could be looking at replacing Kane aswell.

This could pile up very very quickly.

We didn't wait, you can't just buy a player outright unless the selling club is willing to sell. If it were that simple, then why is over 90% of all deals only completed in the final 2 days.

You're sick to death of fans doing mental gymnastics? What nonsense. Some fans can accept that it's going to take a few windows to undo the damage done over a few years. Some fans are happy for us not to spend in a player who is only plugging a gap.

I am excited with Porro but it shouldn’t be a case of one outta two. It should be we need these positions go spend the money! We have had plenty of transfer windows.

And I say this, because, ‘our priority’ which you said, is hugely different than ‘one of our priorities’. That’s why I pulled it. As we’ve been told several times this window that Porro was our priority. And that priority we got. Semantics yes, but we have a lot of posters who hang on everything you say, for good or for bad.

People are pissed off generally, and I think that contributes a lot to this. We sign X and they want Y, it’s a no win unless we sign them all. And none are a guaranteed success. We need to look at it objectively, and on that view a lot of the base want Levy out, and also we haven’t signed a bad player this window.

You can’t then say January is irrelevant, i was responding directly to a point you made… about January. We’re in agreement on the rest of it anyway so lets just move on - we should have bought Conte an elite CB by now

Agree. I think it purely down to profit margins… it hamstrings us as a football team on the pitch/epl/ cups etc. But it excels on the spreadsheet - no pun intended… just frustrating as the nearly-beens
EDIT. I always remind myself that Enic are an investment company. If they show profit year on year then they fulfill their remit.

Could we not have more than one priority position requiresd, depending on what was available? And arguably, several positions were available that should have been seen as priorities to the board.

Just look at our squad, we should have "priorities" all over the place and it's not like there weren't opportunities out there to be taken.
