Can we only deal with one transfer at a time? And if we’d done that and not got Porro, would you feel the same?
Can we only deal with one transfer at a time? And if we’d done that and not got Porro, would you feel the same?
But we didn’t , and apparently we got a less priority signing that I personally think will benefit us more.It shouldn’t be one or the other though! It should be both. We need both, we have plenty cash apparently and plenty room with FFP. We need to push the boat out.
Well we got two, so no. But I agree we need(ed) more. But you can’t have two priorities. You have a priority. Can we only deal with one transfer at a time?
It really doesn’t sound like you agree as you keep going back to points about it being hard to do business in January.Again you seem to be telling me things I agree with. The only thing I don’t is the idea that all we had to do is snap our fingers to get Hincapie. We simply don’t know that. They probably wouldn’t sell without a replacement, and by all accounts opened with a price of 70-80m which makes our opening bid a bit more understandable. Individual deals are hard. Buying 3-4 players in January is obviously hard. But I 1000% agree we should have bought a CB by now
I get we all have our opinions, but I can’t understand how CB and possibly GK isn’t more of a priority than the right side (which also needs addressing, along with our left side too)But we didn’t , and apparently we got a less priority signing that I personally think will benefit us more.
Well do you really think we’re signing a first team goalie in January? I don’t personally.I get we all have our opinions, but I can’t understand how CB and possibly GK isn’t more of a priority than the right side (which also needs addressing, along with our left side too)
Why are you still banging this particular drum? Trix already answered you on this question when he said:
“It's not about numbers, it's about getting what you aim for. And forget January, pick any window where we've addressed all of our main problems over value buys.
I'm just sick to death of fans arguing on their behalf doing mental gymnastics to explain why we are constantly left short. If you can't see it you've got your head in the sand, I mean we wanted Porro for over 2 months and announced it at 11pm on deadline day.
When the same things keep happening, It's not a coincidence.”
Did you just not bother to read Trix’ reply to your own post mate?
Anything is possible, but even a CB I’d have thought would have been higher priority and even our resident ITK stating that it was, yet we failed to secure..Well do you really think we’re signing a first team goalie in January? I don’t personally.
Of course you can have more than one priority. There's a word for it "priorities".Well we got two, so no. But I agree we need(ed) more. But you can’t have two priorities. You have a priority.
I’d not have thought that personally based on how Conte plays I can’t lie.Anything is possible, but even a CB I’d have thought would have been higher priority and even our resident ITK stating that it was, yet we failed to secure..
*But we didn’t* this is the problem and recurring theme that runs throughout every window for us. It is the reason people are pissed off and is the reason we will probably not win anything. But we didn’t , and apparently we got a less priority signing that I personally think will benefit us more.
Yes, but a priority is a more important than all, it’s the definition. If we prioritised a CH over a RWB I’d be worried.Of course you can have more than one priority. There's a word for it "priorities".
And I say this, because, ‘our priority’ which you said, is hugely different than ‘one of our priorities’. That’s why I pulled it. As we’ve been told several times this window that Porro was our priority. And that priority we got. Semantics yes, but we have a lot of posters who hang on everything you say, for good or for bad.Of course you can have more than one priority. There's a word for it "priorities".
People are pissed off generally, and I think that contributes a lot to this. We sign X and they want Y, it’s a no win unless we sign them all. And none are a guaranteed success. We need to look at it objectively, and on that view a lot of the base want Levy out, and also we haven’t signed a bad player this window.*But we didn’t* this is the problem and recurring theme that runs throughout every window for us. It is the reason people are pissed off and is the reason we will probably not win anything.
I am excited with Porro but it shouldn’t be a case of one outta two. It should be we need these positions go spend the money! We have had plenty of transfer windows.
You said ‘we should have bought 3-4 players in January’It really doesn’t sound like you agree as you keep going back to points about it being hard to do business in January.
January is irrelevant.
if we knew we needed a cb, identified hincapie as the best candidate then why wait until the last few days of the window to make a move?
It’s not the market that’s the problem
It’s not the lack of time that defeated us
It’s not the money that stopped us
it’s the continual egotiscal approach to negotiations that fail the coaching staff
Agree. I think it purely down to profit margins… it hamstrings us as a football team on the pitch/epl/ cups etc. But it excels on the spreadsheet - no pun intended… just frustrating as the nearly-beensOK mate, I just find it difficult to process that understanding or partucular mind set.
I don't think I, or anyone else, is suggesting that we just throw cash around like confetti.
But there's a clear pattern to the way we do business and its continuing to hamstring us IMHO.
Could we not have more than one priority position requiresd, depending on what was available? And arguably, several positions were available that should have been seen as priorities to the board.Yes, but a priority is a more important than all, it’s the definition. If we prioritised a CH over a RWB I’d be worried.
Can we only deal with one transfer at a time?
Mate these are Trix’ words not mine so best you address your concerns to him. I very much doubt he’s talking “nonsense” though. Oh and clearly you’ve missed his latest itk. That’s probably going to shatter a few illusions for you as well.We didn't wait, you can't just buy a player outright unless the selling club is willing to sell. If it were that simple, then why is over 90% of all deals only completed in the final 2 days.
You're sick to death of fans doing mental gymnastics? What nonsense. Some fans can accept that it's going to take a few windows to undo the damage done over a few years. Some fans are happy for us not to spend in a player who is only plugging a gap.
Tell me a club who has had a transfer window where they have resolved every issue in their squad?
