The counterpoint is an investment now to secure top 4 would mean in the summer we'd be looking at the top tier of signings (and we have a LOT of squad rebuilding to do). If we're not in CL, it sets us back massively and we need to gamble on lower tier players turning out well.

I hear what you're saying but Arsenal didnt get champions league and outspent us. We wont do it regardless of where we finish because the priority is not winning. Top four makes very little difference if we are serious

I would argue the 2 players we got in secures the top4 for us. Our squad have had injury issues and WC also affected us in a sense we didn’t get best of Romero or Son(his mask issues) .
Porro certainly solves the breakdown at tight side and gives us the coherence in build up play that’s been missing.
There’s always you can do more & I wish we got that 1 more quality CB. But do feel we have enough compared to United or Newcastle

Hahaha, people bitching about this window. I have no idea why some feel so entitled! Jan window is notoriously bad for doing deals. The summer is when most will get done. Yet we have signed two solid players that IMO has strengthened us. Some can't see beyond their Levy hate. Let's not forget, it is Conte that says what players he wants, but not all players will want to come to us or the selling club don't want to sell as is their right.

Why does any criticism or anything slightly negative have to be "Levy hate"?

Yup a disappointing window. Porro is an excellent addition, Danjuma was not really a target (though may prove a success).

We still need a new GK, LCB, CCB, and cover for RWF (and potentially a new CF if Kane leaves, as Richy will need rotation). That’s a lot things to get done in the summer and I have little confidence Levy will make it happen.
It’s much more realistic to get 4 guys you need in a summer window than 3 in January (or even 2 in January if you don’t count Danjuma). Getting a first team upgrade in Jan is a solid window imo

Son was utter shite before his mask issues. Hopefully Preston was a turning point

We've been in the CL almost every season since 2017

Didn't see too many top tier signings in that period.

CL football hasn't really changed our transfer policy.

I'd have liked at least one of Hincape or Zaniolo but that's not how we work unfortunately.

The squad is what it is until the summer so I will support every one of them whenever they put on the shirt.

CL makes no difference to us, we don't spend any more or less whether we are in it or not
Don't think players care either, you pay the money then they will come, scum did fine out of cl and Chelsea man u sign the players they want
Another bog average window, one bench warmer attacker out on loan and one in and a good right back
Massively underwhelming

This all day

I'm not as rabidly anti Levy as some, and I agree some of the stuff i see posted by some here is embarrassing.

However, this window seems like a missed opportunity.

Yes, January is a tough window - i didn't have huge expectations. Its only clubs that are desperate or willing to over pay who do much business. And, looking around, bar Chelsea I don't see any club doing fantastic business. All our rivals have been pretty quiet and there are few signings I would have wanted here.

But, it does seem like there were deals to be done. I fear this window will go down the same way as the Saha/Nelson window. We've done OK. We could have done a lot more - no ridiculous signings but there did appear to be options to improve.

I think our league position is masking so many problems. We have so many players not up to it and need replacing, but if you look at where we are in the table it's all too easy for Levy to say things are fine. And, it always seems to be the way with Levy, given the choice of stick or twist he always sticks. Always.

Despite our obvious problems on the field, we were lucky at the beginning of the month that Champions League is a real possibility. I think realistically, we needed more this window to have a proper shot at top 4. As is, I just can't see us doing it.

I don't think it's entitled for most people to be disappointed and blame Levy, sure some go too far and it's pathetic but I think for the majority it's pretty obvious we have problems and it has become inescapable what the biggest of those problems is: Levy.

Does CL help that much honestly?

Non - CL Signings - Romero, Kulusevski, Bentancur, Emerson, Gil, Sarr.

CL Signings - Porro, Danjuma, Perisic, Spence, Richarlison, Bissouma, Lenglet, Spence, Forster.

Only hope I have is that the ITKs knows the fans are on his back. Danjuma and Porro do not get them off his back].
I reckon they do just about tbh, that's the depressing thing. When's the last time we exceeded expectations in a transfer window?

Yeah needed a CB badly.

Porro is massive though, such a weak spot which he hopefully sorts.

an utter disgrace of a window. amazed Levy gets away with it time after time...too many day trippers at the new stadium for any real chance of making it known how pissed off people are...new owners cant come quick enough..
It's not been a disgrace - a 5 or 6 out of ten, but we as fans certainly need to demand more ambition.

Clint Dempsey, Lloris and Son have all been signed whilst on long haul flights home to the UK .................. its the hope that kills you :)
Why are you not on the plane right now? The rest of us could be enjoying a signing if you booked an earlier ticket :ROFLMAO:
Post in thread 'Piero Hincapie' https://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/piero-hincapie.151784/post-8235414

Sounds like we're done. Not surprised, we've done the absolute bare minimum again.
Trix did state if that was all, not that is definitely all we'll do. This could just be me being optimistic though ?
Tbh I think this has been disproven in recent years. There's so much money in the PL now that the teams that miss out on the CL (which has included Arsenal, Chelsea and United in recent years) sign top players with relative ease.

Although agree we should have done more and we will probs falter in the summer as well.
The thing is though, whether you like it or not, those 3 teams you mentioned all have more of a draw to a player than we do. Let alone the fact they seem more willing to pay the money needed to overcome the fact they don't have CL

And it always will be like this because people loves to moan? Now we missed on Hincapie. If we brought Hincapie then fanbase will be dissapointed we didn't replace Lloris etc etc
Nonsense.

You may have one or two numpties that have had one or two sherberts crying that Lloris is past it and should have been upgraded in January, but the 'fan base' on the whole would extremely pleased if we were to fill our most needed hole.
