Not sure what that means. Why does that have a dependency on the Kane scenario?

Coady signed a new 5 year deal last season, he will not be easy to extract from Wolves.

Ive seen views from Wolves fans who think Coady is average and only looks alright because of the system they play. Apparently they think he would be exposed in a back 4. Reminds me of another Wolves player we purchased...hopefully dont make the same mistake.

Thought we would have learnt by now with the Doherty deal?

Coady excels in the Wolves system but he'd be dreadfully exposed at another club.

Do. not. want.

I think it’s two statements: yes Nuno wants coady. Fab is all geared up on a striker, or two if Kane goes. Val was responding to dragon’s stuff

Did you mean excels in the Nuno system? Who knows if we will be playing a variation of the 3-4-3 / 3-5-2 system Nuno employed with Wolves?

Probably a discussion for the player thread though ....

Conor Coady is a bang-average midtable player whose level is Wolves.

Yes, he might be a great vocal leader. But as a player, he hardly improves us and is not good enough for a team looking to get champions league football.

If we get 150m from Kane and spend a decent chunk of it on Coady I'll be really disappointed.

Need to stop filling the squad with average players who will just become deadwood in a few years. If we wanted a mediocre defender who does a lot of pointing and shouting we can just keep Dier.

Thanks for the info. This would be a shocking signing.

If we’re recruiting a slow, shouty CB that shouldn’t be anywhere near the Tottenham squad then I’d like to offer my services…

valenciayid on irrespective of kane sale?:Yep…the Don is all ready to do deals all over the park, it just will change if Kane goes…in other words Kane stays and we will need one less player and will have a smaller budget…kane goes then we will need another striker and will have a greater budget….

I sincerely hope he means we'd need to buy a second striker if kane leaves, not that we'd only need to sign a striker at all if he leaves. We need a striker even if he ends up staying.

Not overly won over by Coady. I think he is a decent defender and works well in the Wolves system but just not convinced about him as a first team starter stepping up to a club with higher expectations. Kind of getting Chris Perry vibes about him for some reason.

The same fuck ups with the Bale money is about to repeat itself again
I have been a big (but mainly silent) critic of Spurs over the years, but have you ever had anything positive to say? Just an observation you understand.

Coady does offer a few useful qualities than we're lacking: he's a great leader, an excellent long range passer and homegrown.

Given our squad is lacking in vocal leaders, and how amazing Coady apparently was in the England dressing room, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the main reason Nuno wants him is because we're lacking more of a natural, vocal captain around the place. Our current leaders Kane (lol), Lloris and Hojbjerg strike me as more of the 'lead by example' types, whereas Coady never shuts up.

Problem is he's also slow, questionable in a back 4, and presumably quite expensive for a 28 year old given his new contract.

Personally would much prefer us to look elsewhere, but high quality, affordable homegrown CBs are very hard to find so I can understand it to an extent (especially if we intend to switch to a back 3 at times).

Interesting ITK, I thought Coady and Romero both played the central position in a back 3? Suspect this is only on if a low fee and maybe even a swap involving Dier?
