And this is why i love this place. Yesterday morning was full of positivity, and this morning, negativity. Ill be sure to check back on saturday, monday, wednesday and Friday :).

We'll be fine tomorrow with JD and VDV up front lads. Panic not. Remember that the geordies are also going to have to find a way to deal with bale and lennon. And most likely siggy at some point too.

However, if we're still in this position come september 1st, im going to be firmly on the suicide bandwagon!!

I think we spent our summer budget on Siggurdson and Vertonghan. We now need to sell before we can buy. Hence why all these transfers have been held up.

Agreed. If we don't get the players we need and the shit does hit the fan, there's only one man to blame and it ain't AVB.

I just don't think the money is there. So it's either a case that Levy does deals like this to make them work or we significantly lower our expectations to the sub £15m market.

I don't think either option has a majority support.

Morning all, I've got to say I'm really not happy with Mattspur17's itk yesterday. He states some of the players are not convinced with AVB, with his formation, tactics, training methods etc...well if you don't like it you can fuck off. It's quite simple imo, work together, share the same vison, belief, goal & success is possible nah gauranteed. The thought of some whisperings behind the new Boss'es back pisses me off.Sort it out you overpaid premadonna's ffs.
Rant over

I was about to make the same point but glad I read through the posts before doing so. This has me worried but lets just hope this ITK is bollocks, otherwise.. I fear the worst. I really hope AVB knows what he is doing and his time at Chelski has made him realise that we might not be able to do the high line just yet. I think that's the worry the players may be going on about, if they are in fact at all...and without any frigging strikers we will be letting them in and not scoring more....... Tomorrow is gonna be a real eye opener.

Oh fuck a duck... PLEASE SIGN SOMEONE TODAY LEVY!!!!........christ

On the assumption that you are being serious, sale of Niko, Pienaar & Corluka pretty much covered the purchases of Siggurdson & Vertonghen.
If we only have a transfer budget this summer based on selling players first then we are screwed.
AVB should technically have the money from the sales of Crouch, Pav, Palacios and anyone else we got rid of and didn't replace, plus the standard budgeted transfer money.

I thought the sales of Pienaar, Kranjcar and Corluka pretty much covered both Verts, and Sig? So the net spend is very low, if any at all. But I guess we will still have to wait for the sale of Modric as perhaps we haven't much of a transfer budget at all to speak of and Levy wants to more or less break even.

I think I'm more depressed about AVB's comments yesterday. If his words are to be taken literally (and of course it's possible that they shouldn't be) it sounds like Dawson will be captain (and therefore probably a nailed-on starter), whilst we've moved on from M'Vila, given up on Moutinho, and are now looking for the underwhelming Meireles to replace Modric. Oh and apparenly we only need one more striker.

I'm still hopeful that we can get Moutinho and Adebayor sorted. We'd still be lacking in certain areas but that would at least give us a fighting chance of a top 4 place, which is a lot more than where we are right now.

So after a work imposed exile for me on SC nearly a month ago, I come back to....... exactly the same situation as to when I left.

The key difference is that back then, we still had a month to sign a few players! ;)

I would be thankful that I missed it tbh lol.

Well Id like to congratulate the club for giving us the best possible chance of starting the season badly.

Defoe might bang a few in, Townsend might be the best back up winger in the world, Huddlestone might be ready to lace Modrics boots and Ade might join to give us two options up front instead of one but as things stand we are a bit fucked.

And just to let you know the season starts tomorrow, not in two weeks. If we were using the window and the next two weeks to get a bargain in or fill a hole (like everyone else) then Id be fine with it but we are are still building a squad!

Arsenal may have lost their best player but at least they had the foresight to replace him in advance.

We wont get Fernando LLorente nor LD and probably no Mourtinho either (£).

Essentially we are going into the new season short of 5 players. There is no other top team in Europe that has left themselves with so much to do in so little time.

If I were a fan of another club, I would be laughing my arse off at us.

I'm hoping Levy has a good couple of weeks but it may just be too little, too late.

I hope it will not be panic stations to go out and buy players after tomorrow's game with the barcodes. I am very worried with no strikers and LM replacement. Very worried indeed:sick:

Did he say Dawson would be captain ?

Yes.

The sense of flux was reinforced when Villas-Boas said that he would not announce his captain until his transfer business was closer to being concluded.

"On that one, we are deciding towards the end of the transfer market," he said. "We have our reference this year which is Michael Dawson and we hope to keep it that way but towards the end of the window we will have a better idea of the players that stay with us and come in. Dawson will start the season as captain."

Considering we have never spent over 16.5m, you could be right here!

Being club captain and on the pitch captain aren't always the same thing. Plus I think there's a reasonable chance that Dawson won't be here come September 1st.

I also wouldn't take AVB at face value. Why would he tell the press the truth about our transfers?

Still two weeks to go fellas and fellaesses. Deep breaths.

....... and following the euphoric highs of yesterday, we again witness the horrendous come down ..... Like chinese whispers on crack! ..... Not a single one of you knows what the hell is going on 'behind closed doors' and yet BANG the explosion still happens.....My two penny worth (and this is just a guess - albeit i believe an educated one) we are treading a tightrope of having some money to spend/levys determination to never be screwed over, and i reckon there is investment money in there somewhere but levy doesnt want the whole world to know about it yet/at all for obvious reasons. Chelsea/Man U/Man City/Liverpool and now PSG in recent years have all been bum raped for players worth a fraction of what they signed for/ worth a fraction of the wages they are on ... I admire the guy for what he does, he is certainly dogged .... Regarding the "yes but we need a striker" crowd you are correct, but not at any cost....Liverpool did that with Carroll, They were desperate for a striker and Ashley bent em over a barrel and gave them a rebore......They paid £20 million pounds over the odds, and i know a helluva lot of liverpool fans up here who cringe in embarrassment about that one. We aint that club .....

Either we will or wont sign someone in the next 2 weeks/ week and a half ..... you will have the same rants ad infinitum and you will be back saying the same/or similar things in january .....

Just chill out and enjoy the ride for what it is, summat you cannot influence or effect, summat you can only witness the results of....Now doesnt that make you impotent?
