We were very, very unlucky to not beat the best team in England last season at the Etihad with Defoe up front by himself. We destroyed them for 45 minutes of the second half. Looked f**king majestic at times in that second half. Of course we need a striker, but try to remain positive guys. I hope our away support is going to smash the roof off the end of St James's Park on Saturday. I hope the Defoe chant is in full vocal. He's not stupid, he's on Twitter...he knows we're all waiting for Adebayor and a new big name striker to take his place. Let's show him a world of support, and destroy the frickin' sound barrier when he bangs one in for us!!!

Indeed he did. And it would have been the most fantastic of winners if that awful, awful Ameobi hadn't decided to score his first goal in about 25 years.

if he had that shot another 1000 times, none of them would go in.

We were actually not very good in that game but did enough to win. If we had played them about 3 weeks later we would have destroyed them.

I think we're all very nervous and rightly so but our season lasts 38 games. Let's lose a few before we start worrying too much!

Villas-Boas said of M'Vila: "He's an interesting player but I don't think he will join Tottenham. He is a player of defensive characteristics.
"On the possible replacements for Luka, we are looking for a more creative player.
"I can't lie to you. We had initial interest in the player [M'vila] but we have moved on from that one and are now looking for a player more creative.
"We think that we have certain players that offer those defensive
characteristics in our team already."

Porto want £30million for Moutinho and Villas-Boas said: "On Moutinho, I have experience of Porto - it is a club that sells expensive, but they sell a good product.
"They have a pride on defending that kind of brand. They know what sells from them triumphs at other clubs.
"It has been like that with numerous amounts of players and that is why it is very difficult."

I thought we'd be linked to Meireles sooner or later. Can't really see us doing much business with Chelsea though

Just like any game of football, a lot will depend if our big names perform on the day. If the likes of Bale or VDV have a breathtaking game, we've already won it. VDV seems to be a bit of a midfield goal machine for us up until Xmas, and Bale can devastate and make any side on Planet Earth look like schoolboys when he's on his day. If those two perform on Saturday...I'm sure we'll win. Don't forget players like Kaboul, Sandro and Walker, who on their day can change a game just by a blistering surge forward out of absolutely no where - even scoring, or creating huge space for our forwards by mind fucking the opposition with their potential attacking ability.

Looking forward to seeing one of Vertonghen's free kicks too. Ajax fan's say he's pretty damn good!!!

Let's hope it's "our day" on Saturday.

I was at that game (in the Newcastle end) ... well miffed that we didn't win.
