I know it's stupid trying to apply logic to ITK but it would make sense if JJ's "+1 up top" was a loan from our new bestest buddies Real Madrid of Jese Rodriguez. We were supposedly in for him earlier this window and he's not going to get any playing time at RM. He can play as either a striker or a winger. It would make sense for both parties for Jese to join us at least until the January window when we can determine once and for all if there is any hope in signing Leandro. It wouldn't surprise me if Levy negotiated a loan of Jese as back up if our other striker/winger options fell through as part of the Modric deal.

Jese Rodriguez is less experienced than Harry Kane (at least Kane has played a few games in Europa League) and similar age. We need someone with a bit of experience for back up in case Ade injured or we need a striker to play in Europa League/domestic cups not a 19 year old. Same rationale for Morata who is 19 almost 20, just no experience.

From what I have read so far it appears that the likely conclusion of our transfer activity will be below, with Dawson staying due to Kaboul injury.
Out - VDV, Jenas, Gomes
In - Lloris, Affelay

Whilst I am happy with our the players in so far, the above would be a very disappointing end. It would leave us very little depth for our attacking/forward players.

Could be Affellay, would a Barca player be a Judas to our shiny new Spanish partners...

I'm curious if our getting all friendly with Real Madrid would hinder our ability to get a good loan deal on Affellay? Maybe we can loan Affellay and enter a partnership with Barca as well? The titans of La Liga could be united by Tottenham's embrace! #inlevywetrust ;)

I wouldn't be too keen on Afellay tbh. Have not been impressed since he went to Barca and for the national team. His injury record is incredibly worrying as well. Even having seen very little of Willian, I know I would much rather have him.

I wonder if our signing of Dembele may actually play in our favor for Moutinho? With Dembele in, we clearly aren't desperate for a CM, so a little less leverage for Porto. Obviously it's not much, but if it sends the message that clearly we aren't desperate, and we just spent a large chunk of change, then it may put off Porto holding out til the last minute.

It's not much, but it may be just enough to get them to blink before Levy does.

Agree on your ins and outs except :

1 Cannot see VDV being allowed to go without either a winger/AM (like Willian etc) or another striker coming in - otherwise we might be struggling for goalscoring attacking players - VDV has beeen a major goalscorer plus put in a full shift whivch not sure Siggurdsson is nailed on to do as well next season and Dembele has minimimal goalscoiring record either. Risky

2 If Lloris comes in we have 4 expensive goalkeepers so expect Cudicini or Gomes to leave as well.

3 Bentley and GDS sold might be wishful thinking ?

4 Hudd out on loan to get game time ?

Okay but...

free vs. overpriced Shakhtar money, close to 18m pounds IMO. If we can get a Moutinho or a striker with the money we save I am all over it.

But, but, but, but, if we add Mouts that will be 6 incredibly good players (VdV, Sig, Parker, Sandro, Dembele and Mouts) for three central positions. Am I dreaming? I can't remember a time that we've had so much strength in depth in the centre.

Thats exactly what I am saying.... we will be struggling for goalscorers! but if Damaio & Willian deals are dead, we are no longer interested in Remy... who can we realistically get at this late stage?? Its starting to sound like Affelay instead of Willian and as a few ITK have said "dont be surprised if no more strikers come in".

It means that the next player they sign from us goes quickly and for a good price. Other than that, there's fuck all benefit to them I would have thought. Maybe we get some scraps - albeit their scraps tend to be pretty good to bloody good (VDV etc) - but what else is there to pard'ner up about?

What I would hope is that we would have some first options on their academy players. Castilla, while it doesn't produce as much for the senior side, is a factory that produces a ton of talent throughout Spain. And Germany gets a few these days. Joselu, who went to die Hoffe for 6 million yuros, might have been a decent back up. Who knows.
