No need to be a dick about Richarlison who has been scoring goals and getting assists even if he has been as clinical as what we are used to.

Raw ingredient wise Werner clearly has some attributes that set him up to succeed in formation we play. As a loan signing (hopefully with an option) he seems to be low risk. It’s a interesting roll of the dice by the recruitment team.

I never said anything bad about Richarlison? All I said was that Werner will be better.

Richarlison has never even hit 20 goals a season in his whole career. The best he’s done is 15.

Werner, when he’s confident, has shown the ability to be a consistent goal scorer. Something we desperately need.

Has to be coming as a striker option. Would be one of the worst profile fits I’ve ever seen if we want him as a winger.

Will mean Son plays LW until the summer.

He’s scored 2 goals this season and one assist and in general been incredibly underwhelming. Hence them wanting him gone. Doesn’t have the dynamism to play out wide in general and is a very poor finisher. He’s fast tho I guess. Honestly have zero clue why we would want him. Very disappointing target.
People need to relax and look at the context. It's a 6 month loan deal. Son is away for a month, Veliz is injured so Richarlison is our only senior striker. If he doesn't score goals he will at least work hard and press from the front. If he does do well then we can sign him permanently, if not then it's see you later.

I think this is actually a good sign about our new recruitment operation as previously we would never have acted like this with these short term loans. A classic example being during Jose's first transfer window when Kane and Son got injured.

Agree with this we need someone, he might not be first choice, but we are never getting first choice in Jan, when it comes to strikers we never get first choice ever

It’s an interesting one. I wasn’t expecting any big moves for forwards in January, so I would be happy with Werner as an option. And if it doesn’t work out, we send him back.

I would be interested to know whether this is a signing Ange was interested in or whether it’s one of those where the player has become available and Levy has offered him to Ange.

People just seem to be a little touchy regarding Richy recently. Been on a run of goals, but has been very fortunate during the run. His finishing is weak, the majority of goals have been put on a plate for him.

Werner is levels above in regards to finishing, and speed.

Wouldn't mind this at all. We were never going to be signing any world-beaters for the front line in January and I think we desperately need something for one, in the absence of Son and secondly, as an alternative option to Richarlison.

I also think there's really good potential for him to strike up a relationship with Maddison, with his pace to get in behind and Maddison's vision.

Have to also throw in the Ange-factor too in that what we've seen from him elsewhere isn't necessarily exactly what we'll see from him under Ange.

Honestly, if it's a loan/loan with option, it feels like a no-brainer.

He's a hard worker, so worst case scenario he puts in a few shifts when needed and then we send him back.

Personally am delighted by this…shows club are trying to act to get players for Ange
Think he actually fits what we want as a striker pretty well too. Lots of movement, fast and direct. Finishing is suspect, but wasn’t bad when he had his original break out season at Leipzig.

If Werner is someone who Ange genuinely believes improves our squad in the short term and it means we actually have the funds in reserve still to purchase a top attacking player for him then I guess I can get on board.

First thought was that it was pretty underwhelming though.

This is a decent bit of business considering it’s a January deal, risk free really and we’ve got all the up side. Improves the squad massively.

Gil - 0 goals 0 assist
Solomon - 0 goals 2 assist
Johnson - 1 goal 4 assist

Its not like we have brilliant goal contributors in the wing. Werner will miss some chances, but going by his numbers, he will more than make up for it.

More than he missing chances, I hope Ange teaches how to stay onside LOL
For another thread but Solomon and Johnson deserve way more credit than what you are insinuating

What I really like about this potential Werner signing is, the fluidity this will give the front line...

Son, Johnson, Richarlison, Werner - all can play LW RW CF. All can interchange & keep moving, with ease. If Ange can properly get them playing together, any defense should be unsettled with this fluidity

Well we are data driven now so maybe they've seen something 🤷🏼‍♂️. Ange must also really like him otherwise he wouldn't have agreed to it. Sometimes all it takes is the right manager and system. There is zero risk to it, if he's class then we purchase him, if he's poor we send him back. He will provide competition and Richarlison and cover for Son. I know Richi has started scoring but let's be honest, he misses so many chances. Maybe Werner would mop up some of those 🤷🏼‍♂️

That’s the main thing. We are so toothless in attack without Son, such little threat.

When Leipzig knocked us out of the CL before Covid Werner was excellent. I think it’s a no brainer, especially in the period Sonny is away.
