Release clauses aren't legally binding in England - they are only recognised in Spain and Portugual in fact.
Rubbish. In Spain they are required but FA / Premier League rules say nothing on the subject and there is nothing in general law to prevent it. Therefore the lawyers can build one into the contract if both parties wish it.

Having said that they seem to be pretty rare in England.

So if said striker decides to back out of moving to us on 31st? Leaves us open for disappointment surely? Risky strategy no?

This reminds me of the Berbatov situation. This time Fraizer Campbell is injured:bang:

Levy has learnt from that. Every things in place. Enjoy the suspense.

Also Palacios will only depart if we can sort out his replacement in time.
Levy & Redknapp are on the case. Target Identified. Will the club sell to us?

Money talks.

That's true, but then 3 of those were loans, which have been widely expected to happen, anyway.

Add to that Keane and Kranjcar who have been told they can leave at the right price.

Can't see us selling Palacios, mind, even though Stoke were rumoured to be interested.

Keane and Kranjcar have already been replaced too, as has Woodgate with Gallas.

So really we need 3 to leave just to balance it out. Plus there's not really any room for O'Hara.

I'd say there has to be at least 3 outgoings and then balance any other incomings with outgoings too.

Think Elmander is our Frazer Campbell option this window.

hmmmmmm, West Spam have bought Demba Ba, Might spell the end for Keane's dream move to his boyhood club.

Demba Ba wont be enough to save them from relegation.

Thanks 1 in. Good roundup. I think skyderen was referring to the fact that the Mourinho news would be all over the press and media because of that one rumour.

Bremen in for Niko. Oh wait, no, they're not anymore.

Henry Winter on Twitter at MCFC presser - Johnson may go out on loan

That's why I hate those bastards...buy players just for the sake of it/to stop them playing for someone else, them don't play them (Adebayor, Johnson, Bellamy - all of whom imo could get into any side in the league), it's disgusting. Chelsea did the same years ago (Wright-Phillips, Parker)

Sorry guys, not overly relevant, just fancied a rant.

I think he might mean Michael Johnson, if he is still there. Can't see them loaning Adam.

i read it as some of those 6 mentioned, not all.

presumably we've had a sizeable offer for Palacios given the rumours about him possibly leaving.

i would imagine Harry might consider selling him and bringing in Diarra as a replacement if we could make a profit on the deal.

o'hara, woodgate and keane haven't really played all season, no particular reason for us to keep them anymore.

sandro on loan for experience again might make sense if huddlestone is close to a return.

and niko wants off, so i guess we will sell him, plus again he hasn't played a lot and Pienaar was surely his replacement?

We haven't had any offer for Palacios.

Keane will go if its right for us.

Sandro makes sense but is unlikely, we don't want to dismantle a squad.

Niko doesn't actually really want to leave, he just wants to play, he will go in the summer, not now.

The point remains, we won't leave ourselves short

just seen the Irish indo has the story 2m+keane for parker, is JTG a journo or are these lazy journo's taking rumours from fansites?

Yes, he writes for an Irish paper.

I am not sure this is correct. In Spain/Portugal each contract has to have a release clause in it by law, hence some outrageously high ones for the top players. In this country that is not so, but if a player does have one inserted, and both parties sign off on it, then surely it is binding?

Beat me to it. Release clauses are binding in this country but unlike Spain they are not mandatory.

I like this place. It's friendly.

Have they cleared up all the blood yet?

As i've mentioned before my mate is the under 11s and under 14s Tottenham Coach. He works with the team at the Lodge and also a place called Frentford! I spoke with him this morning at 10.30am. He told me PAV is not at training! However also said if he's picked up and injury that could be the reason why... Once again i asked him about transfers, but he honestly has no idea...

I'd be dissapointed if we've give up on Palacios already, is Diarra that much better?

No offence, but if you really believe we will sell six members of our squad, including the very important squad member Palacios, then you are horribly mistaken. Not even we could afford 6 outgoings.

3 will be sold.

3 out on loan.

I never stated that six will be sold.
+ I've explained in another post regarding Palacios.

If they would deal with us i would take Johnson in a heartbeat...assuming that it's Adam and not Michael!!

Totally agree with you on them buying players to stop other clubs doing it. It's been happening in Scotland for years with both Celtic and Rangers doing it.

I thought that the 25 man squad rule was brought in to avoid things like this happening.

Btw - off topic, but the fine handed out to Blackpool yesterday was a complete joke. How can you have a 25 man squad rule and then fine a club for picking 11 players from it?
