Don’t underestimate the experience of Jose here. I am pretty convinced he will set up not concede - a 0-0 tonight would be a very good result and put us favourites to progress. There will be a game plan to this effect I think

A 0-0 draw at home won't put us as favourites, they will be favourites! Even as of now with our injuries I would say they are favourites to go through.

That might be true if Son was just missing this game but if we are getting any goals in this tie we can’t risk getting them away and then consider ourselves favourites. Any win tonight and José’s ‘experience’ will be most in play in the second leg. Clean sheet is very important though.

A 0-0 at our place makes us favourites? How does that work? Leipzig are more vulnerable at the back tonight than they will be in the 2nd leg, with their makeshift defence.
No away goal tonight (unless they changed the rule) and if so I rescind my comment!

No home goals, either. Leipzig's defence is weakened tonight due to injuries and a suspension but they'll be much stronger defensively in the 2nd leg. Our attack is fucked and it will still be fucked in the 2nd leg.

Winning the match tonight with a clean sheet might make us ever-so-slight favourites, anything else doesn't.

Dele has to play, I know he divides opinion but without Kane or Son his runs into the box are so crucial. He gambles, we need that.

Lloris
Aurier Sanchez Toby Davies
Winks Lo Celso
Bergwijn Dele Lamela
Lucas

I would like to see Ndombele start as well but I don't think now is the time to be messing with a pairing of Winks and Gio who have played so well together. Perhaps he could play further forward with Lamela dropping out, but then it feels like more square pegs in round holes.

I personally would have Davis playing. Have you not seen their aggressive attacking pace threat? Combined with an elite shrewd young manager, who will tactically expose Davis as weak link. Need Sanchez, Toby, Tanganga, Aurier.
Davies is a weak link squad / back up is all he really is and overated(he would never be a first choice in any of the current top 8 clubs in the league atm), decent against lesser teams outside of that average at best and squad back just about

I wonder if now with Son injury and us lacking upfront will JM recall his trusted 'BUSES' from the garage .... When JM arrived i already knew playing good passing, attractive and possession football was never gonna happen... Its very hard to watch us atm the moment , it really isnt a joy to watch but I am glad we are getting 3 points and winning and getting over the line . if he chose to get the buses out of the garage now with Son out id hate it but as long as we win i can live with it (atleast to the end of the season). bit like how Athletico won against VAR-pool team yday, all about the result, this type of style is probably what we need now in all comps till end of the season, may not be pretty but we need that tactical style winning ugly and boring maybe but winning

Sean Davis hasn't played for us for over 10 years.

Steve Davis played snooker.

Ben Davies is a solid if unspectacular fullback who is miles better than the next best option we have.

Simon Davies was a decent little player.

Lineup from the Dortmund 3-0 last year plus Llorente, Lamela, and Wanyama coming on as subs. I feel like we still have the players to put out an equivalent or better side tonight.
