Well, as no one did himself a favour tonight I guess the starting XI is an easy pick. Bench is debatable. Kane in? Who the heck knows...

I never thought it would be so refreshing to see some of those names listed in the team :D

I know Lo celso didnt have the best game tonight but i think against wolfs low block we need him more in the first 60-70min to find and create open spaces with his passing skills and then if we need Bergwijn comes on with fresh legs. Bergwijn is the perfect counter attacking option we have in games against teams like man city and arsenal that wan to keep the ball, but against wolfs I think Lo celso is a better choice.

And come on guys we need to start Romero if we cant bench Dier then why did we buy him for a record fee at all, must start in my opinion. Sure Dier and Sanchez did have a good game against city (as they have before)

If you are happy with a point then I think same team as the match against MC will do.
If we want to play on the front foot I think Romero needs to be involved at some point. Dele will also have to play higher up.

This likely starting lineup, over the course of numerous games, is going to struggle to score goals, too. Excluding Son, the other players likely to start against Wolves combined for only 6 league goals last season (7 if you count the 1 goal Skipp scored in the Championship). For the sake of comparison Aurier and Ndombele scored 5 league goals between them last season and Bale alone scored 11 league goals.

The club is taking an enormous risk that either Son has one of the most prolific seasons in the history of the club (25+ goals) or that Bergwijn, Dele and Moura can each contribute double-digit goals, which seems very unlikely to me. Even if Kane comes back, the onus will be on him and Son again to score and create 75%+ of the team's goals. Like last season, those goals could carry the team towards the top of the table early on, but over the course of a season, it isn't going to be enough to get results each week.

More important than the result of this match is Paratici bringing in at least 2-3 new attacking signings that can compete for starting positions. It'll be needed if the club wants to make a top 4 push.

Agree that it's a risk putting everything on Son but we know from ITK that there is another striker coming in. However I am more optimistic that Dele and Lucas can contribute - we know that Dele has 15+ goals in him from earlier seasons and he seems to be enjoying his football again which is great to see, so hopefully he'll contribute more than he's done in the last couple of seasons. Lucas has looked in great form during pre-season and if used properly, he will score goals. Bergwijn is imo short on confidence and I think once he gets a goal or two, he'll do well.

Obviously this is a very optimistic position to take but I don't think we'll find ourselves struggling for goals if Kane isn't playing. On the contrary the rest of the team will step up and play to their respective strengths rather than focussing on Kane.

For the Wolves game I'd probably stick with the same lineup as against City tbh, but I'd like to see Romero, Gil and Lo Celso get more minutes off the bench.

Didn't see last night but judging by the meltdown across the internet, I'd suggest we go with the same team as last weekend. I'd assume that's part of the reason they were all rested last night, to ensure they were fresh enough to go again.

Same as last week, I think this is the team until we hit a wall or after the international break. Nobody deserves to lose their place.

The biggest credit I can give to these 11 players is that on Sunday, I was genuinely worried about making a sub such was the perfect balance we had that I feared any slight change could disrupt everything.

Team picks itself really after that shit show last night.

Traore would have a field day against Dele and Reggie so I'd move Skipp to that side to cover the runs and add some protection.

Lloris
Tang Sanchez Dier Reggie
Dele Hoj Skipp
Lucas Son Berg
