Poll: Could you give a monkeys about watching NFL games?

Could you give a monkeys about watching NFL games at New White Hart Lane?

  • No, I can't stand American Football, they use their hands for gaads sake! I'm all about the footie.

  • Maybe, could be tempted into watching it, why not, I mean... why the hell not?

  • Yes, really looking forward to it, this is going to be great! Double header? Bring it on!

  • I might watch the first game to see if I like it or understand it - that sort of thing.

This poll is about whether, as primarily a Spurs fan, you quite like idea of watching an NFL game at the new place, or whether you'd rather cut your bits off with a rusty bread knife than sit through a moment of the 4-hour dirge.

It is not, I repeat NOT a poll about whether the NFL coming to N17 is good for Spurs FC. It's about whether you would watch the games.

Not my bag. Too long.

Can't see many car park pre-match BBQ's happening in N.17 either.

(A monkey in a cage was found in a Dublin drugs raid yesterday along with machine hands, ammo and lots of drugs)

Condense it and I’d be very interested. Obviously not happening though.
I appreciate the skills and physicality involved, these geezers are absolute beasts, but, it’s just too drawn out with too many flashy distractions.

I’ve watched Aaron Rodgers a few times live when in the states (on tv whilst in bars etc ) and he glides around the field like Messi does in football. Great to watch

Ive got into NFL but think it is one of those sports that is far better watching on TV than at a stadium.

Have you ever been to an NFL game, just wondering?

At Wembley last year with the Seahawks. I do really want to go to one in America and imagine it is a totally different yet worthwhile experience

If we take away the atmosphere etc, I think when you watch it on TV you get given the guides on the pitch, the analysis, the replays etc. I just found that at the stadium it was a tad more difficult to follow... given it is quite technical

I am a Fan of American Football and I am a Giants fan for my sins, for me to have a chance to maybe one day to watch a team that I support for the first time ever would be very special for me, it is just a shame that the Giants are so bad at this point in time.

I will say that the best way to watch American football is going to a game live in a stadium in the US and I would recommend going to watch College football like I did years ago in Las Vegas at UNLV Rebels vs New Mexico match.

I went to a ravens game in America a few years and it was such a good alround atmosphere and would 100% do it again, yet when I watched them at Wembley it wasn’t the same buzz and feel (as expected) and would have probably been better watching it from home.

And it’s never easy following the game and stuff in the stadium unless you know all the rules and plays and everything as it can get very confusing

The one thing the amazes me is the support for all the college football teams, it’s crazy

Im definitely keen on going to one in the states and ofcourse at the Lane although like you say the buzz wouldnt be the same whatsoever.

I like the tactical analysis and replays along with the guidelines etc then again i dont know the game inside out so any help is always good help.

Can't stand it on TV too many ad breaks, but it's a day out and at the new ground, so it's on my list of things to do.

Methinks your poll is a bit disingenuous ?

I watch the Texas Longhorns as faithfully as I watch Spurs, but I dont care at all for either professional team in Texas, and I live 15 miles from the Cowboy's stadium.

the game of (American) football really developed in colleges, tactically and culturally. it began in the late 19th century and was very popular by the turn of the 20th. professional (American) football didn't begin until the 20s, and did not gain a meaningful cultural foothold until the late 50s.

for all the hype and glamo(u)r of the NFL - and it is hugely popular - the cultural, communal aspect of the collegiate game is much stronger.

this may not be a good analogy, but I would culturally compare collegiate American football to English League football in the 50s and the NFL to the modern Premier League. the latter are far more lucrative and better able to project themselves. the former more tightly woven into the fabric of communities.

I have no interest in American football and cast my ballot for the first option. but tailgating/attending at bigtime college football really is a wonderful expression of communal sporting ritual.

Love American sports. Been to NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB games. In our own backyard with the possibility of a team to call our own? Bring it on. I’ve needed an excuse to drop the Dolphins for years anyway
