Poll: Could you give a monkeys about watching NFL games?

Could you give a monkeys about watching NFL games at New White Hart Lane?

  • No, I can't stand American Football, they use their hands for gaads sake! I'm all about the footie.

  • Maybe, could be tempted into watching it, why not, I mean... why the hell not?

  • Yes, really looking forward to it, this is going to be great! Double header? Bring it on!

  • I might watch the first game to see if I like it or understand it - that sort of thing.

Voted yes. I don’t follow it as much as I used to, but I got into it when I was in my early teens and still really enjoy the occasional game and the Super Bowl.

NFL is hugely popular here. I’ve had phases where I’ve been really into it. When I was in my serious pro gambling stage it was one of the major sports I bet on and became quite an expert. I’ve drifted away from it last couple of years. I don’t think I’d go out my way to get a ticket. But if one landed on my doorstep I’d definitely be up for it. And I’ll defo watch it on TV. I weirdly think social media has really intensified my support for Spurs and hence I’ve drifted away a bit from other sports.

I'd go and watch. It'd save me a couple of hours sitting with my mum making roaches for her.

I love the game personally. Got into it about 4 years ago as my mrs has a few American friends. Still don’t fully understand all the intricacies of the plays and what not but as a sport it’s got everything.

NFL and Spurs aren’t connected other than we can host a game or two at the stadium. If they hosted the Light House Family reunion gig I wouldn’t feel obliged to attend because I’m a Spurs fan.

The Spurs shop is selling NFL merch quite prominently, with Kane doing video spots throwing and kicking NFL balls/talking about the patriots. There is a push there.

Stayed up to watch the Superbowl once (whatever year Tom Petty did the halftime show). It was one of the worst decisions in my life; it's a terrible sport that involves more standing around talking than it does actually playing. So boring.

I appreciate the sport because in the moments the ball is actually in play there's some impressive athleticism and tactical play but I can't imagine ever wasting a whole day going to a game when I could be on here giving an opinion nobody asked for.

I'm fascinated by the responses to this poll. Who knew?

It’s very stop and start, but when you understand the rules it’s like a cross between rugby and chess. Oddly enough, I hate rugby.

I’m a Chicago Bears fan, unfortunately. Soft spot for the Eagles.

Not my bag. Too long.

Can't see many car park pre-match BBQ's happening in N.17 either.

(A monkey in a cage was found in a Dublin drugs raid yesterday along with machine hands, ammo and lots of drugs)
Actually the Park Lane Square would be perfect if health and safety allowed, by the way what are machine hands?
I got interested in American football about forty odd years ago after reading something by Danny Blanchflower who was very much interested in it, I believe there was the AFL then too but these days I prefer Baseball. Its interesting to read the difference between the NFL and college football though, I used to do business with a guy in LA who only bothered with the college game, the impression I got was that there was more rivalry with more local derbies.
As for the the poll, I'd probably take in a game or two.

Love NFL. Saw my beloved Vikings at Twickenham and enjoyed everything about the day except the challenges of getting home to Cambs from Twickenham. While it’s not as easy to follow at a live game, the many (short) pauses in play lend themselves to frequent trips to get beer, so it’s cracking if a group of you are going.

So I’m definitely keen on getting to a game at Spurs, but I suspect tickets will be very hard to come by.

Definitely, love a bit of American football although having spent a good chunk of time in the Deep South I am more interested in the college football than NFL.

I’ve been to a couple of college games over there with attendances of over 100,000 and they’re great days out.

You say “NOT a poll about whether the NFL coming to N17 is good for Spurs FC” but it’s quite clearly a thread designed to generate a ‘look at evil uncle Levy doing something that doesn’t focus on Spurs fans’ feeling amongst the contingent of this site.

You could quite easily have said ‘will you attend nfl at Spurs, yes or no’?, right? Or just started a ‘do you like nfl’ thread in general sports.

This is straight from the Nigel Farage book of ‘how to create hate with explicitly being hateful’.
Hilarious massive leap in an almost parodically unnecessary BSoDL call to arms there. I don't think @daryl hannah meant anything of the sort, but you do you, BBLG.
