I still don't see him going anywhere. More likely he gets his head down when the transfer window closes. I'm pretty sure Nuno would have talked about how he can get the best out of him in his interview. It's probably just a case of getting his fitness up to scratch and his his head in the right place. I also think it will make a difference playing in a full stadium, to feel the support from the fans.

I love the fact Nuno is saying to the record signing that if you don't show the right attitude and application then you don't play. Nuno isn't wasting energy where he doesn't expect to get a return. Good on him, there are plenty of players that do need his attention and his backing.

He went from the 2nd tier to Lyon after a successful loan. We actually looked at Ndombele the Summer before we signed him when we could have got him for £15m. We had doubts however and decided against it. He then had a great season and we bit the bullet. No one can disagree that it was a huge mistake on our part to sign him.
In 2017 he joined Lyon for 2m eur loan fee and 8m. After first season he had in Ligue 1 I really really doubt that he was available for £15m.
He even later revealed City were interested in him but he chose to stay one more season. Even in his thread Hercules were saying they want more than 40m euro for him :)

I've messed up, I don't think it was the year before, it must have been before he joined Lyon that our interest began.

He will be an absolute star somewhere.

Certainly the most naturally talented player in our squad.

Don't see it myself . He has hit the financial jackpot...never needs to work again .

. In the Spurs stadium training session who can forget his howls of protest after the Dier challenge...TN is a multimillionaire 'why should I
ever get any knocks' , is his mindset. I reckon he'd be happiest playing X-box til his contract runs down and then...take it even easier .

I can't think of a player whose value has depreciated has much this lad's. He has ridiculous talent but shows no desire or commitment. Clubs see what we see and I truly struggle to see a clued up club breaching the 30mil barrier! And I'm being kind. Tanguy needs a season of Hojbjerg type application to even get near a fee that Levy would consider, and even then it would probably be a loss such as the lads performance has dropped off.

I specifically said I'm not trying find an excuse for the player, yet this is your reply. ?‍♂️

Sorry I know I replied to your post but in all honesty I wasn't trying to imply that that was YOUR position. It's my personal view/position on his poor work ethic and I have seen so much mental gymnastics trying to explain away his work ethic.

It wasnt meant to imply that it's your position.

Hojbjerg would snap him in the first 5 minutes and you wouldn't see Tanguy in the game again. Genuinely.

I remember Chelsea away, he got hit 2-3 times in the first 10 minutes and he disappeared completely. No interest. No mental strength or determination. The Wolves game where Neto went past Winks and Tanguy literally could not be bothered to chase him. Its on camera. There's no excuse.

I'd much rather see Hojbjerg who gives his all every game, never misses a game, has played all the Euros and got straight back to Spurs and knuckled down. He may not be as gifted as Tanguy but give me him any day over this guy who still can't get fit.

Teams definitely noticed that last season. A couple of early kicks on him and he is out of the game. He has no interest. I don't think I've ever seen a player so mentally weak. Even Paulinho wasn't this bad.

We did look at him the summer before. I remember the links and there was some ITK (from TRIX, I think) who said we didn't push the button on him because we thought he was a liability when on the ball in deep areas.

I'd loan him out for a season.

If he can do a job in the Turkish, Greek or a similiar '2nd tier' league, where application for a talented player isn't such a big deal, then perhaps we could do a sale and pay a portion of the wages.

I honestly don't think any top level clubs will want him. If he was a number 10, or a wide forward, who was hit and miss, but definitely had the ability to win you a game or 6 every season, then I think some lower half PL clubs would be interested.

But there's no way that any PL club is going to sign a lazy central midfielder. Even if we paid all his wages for a season.

He has everything ability wise to be one of Europes best midfielders, strength, skill, vision and superb weight of pass but in his head hes just not there.

I remember watching him away at City for Lyon and thinking wow this guy is incredible.

Such a waste.

I do wonder whether the club should think outside the box and search for the right psychological coach, who could get the best out of him.

It's not like we haven't got the resources to do this and the pay-off would be huge.

But you never really see clubs doing this...and definitely not our club

I’d love to have worked with him. He’s complex but seems a happy chap.

The club definitely leaving some money on the table/low hanging fruit/insert expression here by not spending a bit of money on a sports psychologist to try and extract more out of him, considering the implications could be tens of millions in our favour with a positive outcome. Could extend to the rest of the squad as well. Or am I out of touch and we do actually have such a department already?

The thing is even if we do hire a psychological coach for him it's not like we would put it out there that we did. Unlike a lot of clubs we rarely confirm player's medical issues not directly related to the pitch. We don't confirm positive covid tests, we don't discuss non-playing related medical or legal issues, etc. It's always an "internal matter". So I am super curious if we have because that would be my expectation of any club given Ndombele's gap in talent vs appreciable game time.
