A loan to buy option is no good as he will be back next season and it will start all over again. He needs to be sold even if it means a big loss. What we lose in the sale we gain in his 200 grand wages.

But if no club is willing to commit to a purchase that option is better than him sticking around.

It's being reported as a £3m loan fee with £13m option to buy which becomes an obligation if Napoli qualify for the ECL.

£16m would be a very poor return given the tens of millions we spent on transfer fees and salary to have him at the club. It is what it is though and we might not even get that.

It’s shocking how much money we effectively wasted on poor player and managerial acquisitions in the period between the defeat in the Champions League final and the appointment of Conte. Thankfully we now seemed to have turned a corner.
