Feels like it might be time to cut our losses with this one unfortunately

There's definitely a class player there, it just doesn't seem to be working for him and us

Really big shame cos I like him a lot
Same, but it's quite striking to me that Mourinho, Mason and Nuno don't fancy what they've seen of him (even Poch to an extent).

People have defended Tanguy for quite awhile, but after some managerial changes there appears to be one common denominator.

I feel like this absence is getting blown out of proportion a bit. If I’m the new coach coming in to the club and we have a player like Tanguy, you could look at him and feel like he is a player you could really mold into a player that could be almost unplayable. In order to that you probably have to focus on different parts of his development before throwing him in. I think I’d rather he was doing special fitness programs on individual sessions, learning a different role and what is expected of him in terms of pressing, off the ball movement and positioning. Get him ready and in the best possible condition before bringing him in to friendly games. Tanguy could probably dominate friendly games and you wouldn’t learn too much about him and he probably wouldn’t put in as many miles as he could if he was in an individual programme.

It's none of the above unfortunately for me. I admire your optimism and trying to see it differently. He has a poor work ethic. He has been here 2 years already and we still trying to establish why the fee and wages paid and his contribution to the team.

So frustrating. Felt like after the first half of last season or so he might have turned a corner, only to tail off and now facing his “fitness” problems AGAIN. Players like this annoy me so much. All the talent in the world, but can’t be arsed to work for it. Cut our losses otherwise if he stays it’ll be like Dele where at the beginning of each season everyone has a “feeling this season will be his season” and I feel it never will

This was Poch's top pick as he believed he could tap into his talent and get him to become one of Europe's best.

But that was based on a handful of brilliant games whereas most of the others he'd show flashes of skill but disappear or struggle to keep up with the pace.

The fact that we then spent 60m and gave him top salary reflects really badly on Poch's talent spotting skills and judgement on spending big money.

You dont spend that kind of money on a player who needs a bit of work. You spend that kind of money on a player who is already doing it consistently.

For example, De Bruyne's numbers for Wolfsberg were superb and he was already performing highly. Or Eden Hazard, a player who helped his team win the title and was clearly head and shoulders above the rest.

I get that he wanted Frenkie De Jong and we couldn't get him but you really can't risk that kind of money on a punt. If he cost 25m, I'd be more tempted.

Hopefully we can get him a loan somewhere and he shows enough there but I really can't see him succeeding here. He just doesn't seem to be able to dig in deep enough.
If he was Pochettino’s top pick then maybe he’s not being played as PSG are keen to have him and we don’t want to risk an injury to him.

I am one of his critics though do feel we are moving forward as a team and where as before the expectations were high of him, that has changed. Having a ruthless manager in Jose may not have been a good fit . If he is here for next season let's hope he can chip.in and force us to make a grab for the kleenex with his performances.

For me the one thing is he does not have that look of im here to take the piss, its more of despair and having wTched all or nothing again i feel a little sorry for him. (Too much vino)

I will now abstain from fat jokes as think they had their run!

He defo has talent, very plain to see when he gets on the ball, always looks to make an early pass etc. but its more like cameo appearances.
Where some point out he is lazy I think some of it looks like a lack of belief, whether feels like he cannot live up to the price tag or he is homesick or whatever might be causing it, there is clearly something wrong.
If a manager (and he had 3 now)and coaching staff, cannot get to the bottom of it, then it might be better for him and the club to look at other options, The position/s he plays in need someone to help dominate midfield, half the problem we had last year was that we couldn't do that it.

I was always rooting for him as I could see that he was a damn good player with natural talents. But now I have to admit that I am disillusioned and would like him to go as soon as possible as to not upset the apple cart.

I don't see any coming in with a bid large enough for it to be worth selling him. I'd rather keep him and hope that he grows up than selling him for a low fee.

I can’t see him going to PSG. They’re having to sell players to afford Messi, not take in other new ones.

The guy has a serious attitude problem. Look back as far as his youth days and you will find articles stating exactly the same. He always knew he was more talented than most players so worked nowhere near as hard.

I don't know if he has any mental health issues and don't want to go into that as it would be speculation. But what isn't speculation is his incredibly poor attitude and his inability to get in the required shape for the Prem.

Not going to be easy but get him out if at all possible and get someone in who is ready to work.

Exactly, there were concerns around his attitude and fitness but his talent was there to see.

We took a punt on a very talented player, but it just does not seem to have worked out which is a shame. Below was taken from the Guardian and there were even reports around the same time in France basically saying the same thing.

The raw talent has always been there but the focus has not and it is remarkable to think that as recently as the 2015-16 season Ndombele was fighting for recognition in the Amiens reserve team in the Championnat National 3, which is French football’s fifth tier.

It had all gone wrong for him at Guingamp, where he was released as a 17-year-old in 2014 – the club did not offer him a professional contract amid concerns over his commitment. Was he prepared to make the necessary sacrifices?

Talk to anybody in France about Ndombele and one word recurs: nonchalance. It is not meant as a compliment and takes in the impression that he has not always been the most hard-working player. Perhaps it is because his talent is so big that everything comes easily to him.

“He was nonchalant,” Sullivan Martinet, his youth team captain at Guingamp, told Ouest France. “He was so strong that we were expecting more from him, more consistency. He didn’t try maybe as much. He didn’t give the impression of always being 100%. With hindsight, what harmed him was his behaviour off the pitch. We were less talented but we wanted it more than him.”

Genesio would betray a similar frustration with Ndombele last season, when he wondered in public how he could be so good against Manchester City in the Champions League but so disappointing in some lower-profile games. It is rare to hear Genesio putting such criticisms on the record and it created headlines. That said, he could have applied them to virtually any of his Lyon players and Ndombele’s youth and lack of top-level experience surely had to be considered.

Ndombele had another problem at Guingamp – a propensity to be slightly overweight – and it was cited among the reasons for the refusal to give him a senior deal. “People told me he could put on weight,” said Philippe Le Maire, who was on the club’s youth staff. “To put it in simple terms – he built his bottom half before the top.”

Ndombele was turned down by Auxerre, Caen and Angers – they did not believe that he had the correct build – and, when he joined Amiens, he was at a crossroads, questioning whether he had a future in the professional game. Yet after two seasons in the reserves, he made his senior breakthrough and led the club to promotion from Ligue 2.

Lyon took him on loan for €2m in 2017-18 and, shrewdly, inserted an option to make the deal permanent for €8m. They exercised it after Ndombele excelled, stepping in for Corentin Tolisso, who had moved to Bayern Munich. International recognition has followed, with Ndombele now capped six times by France, the first of which came against Iceland last October, coincidentally at Guingamp’s Stade du Roudourou.

The boy from the banlieues in the south of Paris is not the finished article. For a box-to-box midfielder, he knows that he has to start scoring goals (he got only four at Lyon) while on a bad day, he can give the ball away in dangerous areas. It can be difficult to gauge a player’s true level from performances in Ligue 1 and it is plain that he will need time to adapt at Spurs. How will he cope with the size of his price-tag?

But there can be no doubting the sense of anticipation that accompanies Ndombele to the Premier League. Pep Guardiola was taken aback by how he took the game to his City team while Didier Deschamps, the France manager, says Ndombele “knows how to do everything in the middle.”

If all the reports were true that Mourinho did very little in terms of fitness work, it’s no massive surprise that a player that broadly struggled to adapt to the pace and requirements of the PL is behind on his fitness. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad though. If we’re doing much more focussed fitness work, long run that should only be a good thing for him.

think he also was given some time off after his partner had their first baby. Worth baring in mind.

It still baffles me how some refuse to put any responsibility on Tanguy's shoulders. He's a footballing professional, he's had the whole summer off and was gone for less than a week when he visited his partner. There's absolutely no reason as to why he shouldn't be fit right now. To me, it's quite clear that he's lazing about and not willing to put in the required shift, just like he has for his whole career at Guingamp, Lyon, and Amiens before us.

We should sell before his value plummets even further.

someone his talent should be one of the first on the team sheet unfortunately he doesn’t have the application to stay fit.
Like mentioned above he has had the whole summer off and he’s had a baby. So do most footballers at some point in their career. He should still be fit.
Everyone wants him to get fit and show what a player he can consistently he’s now got his 4th manager and not been able to play consistently for the previous 3.
I can’t see with the state of finances abroad anyone paying what we would want
