He plays in a front 3 .... therefore he's technically a forward.

or

How about we call him a midfielder playing out of position? Does it matter? he scores all there goals anyway.

They need someone to lead the line, that's not Ronaldo's game hence the links with Adebayor. Right now they have one striker for the rest of the season, if they buy another one it'l be to provide cover not to replace the only existing striker they have fit. What would be the point of that?

Benzema isn't that good anyway. In Spain he is seen as nigh on useless, in France he is seen as mediocre currently despite early promise. Its only really in the UK that people still think he is amazing. He's not that good, i'd rather Suarez.

With the quality they have, having one striker isn't an issue.

Barcelona are arguably the best team in the world, they only have one recognised striker.

Teams like Real, Barca, Chelsea (when firing) don't have to rely on their strikers as their midfielder's also contribute lots of goals. Also, scoring lots of goals isn't necessarily that important as they don't concede many.

I thought Bojan was pretty much considered a forward primarily now, he played centre forward quite a lot last season in place of Ibrahimovic even before they got Villa I believe.

No chance. I don't see us getting a striker this window. Who's it gonna be?? No chance. Summer, if then. Harry doesn't seem to be as striker focused as the fans or even Levy (it would seem). It's a shame, but he's earned the right to decide what's best for the team so far.

I imagine he's focused on getting the right striker, not splurging £20m+ and getting another Pav. Benzema's goalscoring record at Real is roughly on a par with Crouch's for us.

Altough I think Benzema would still be an upgrade on any of our current strikers, I agree that they both seem focused on getting the RIGHT striker and not just a striker for the sake of signing one. I thrust that Harry and our scouting system have a far better knowledge than the users on here and if they think Suarez or Benzema or XY wont be an upgrade, than I'd rather wait till summer for that striker instead of spending millions now and again be frustrated.

That may be true for most posters mate, but I been playing Fifa 11 online and after being soundly battered (I am shit at the game) by Dortmund and specfically Barrios I was more than aware of his talents long before the rumours of us wanting him surfaced here....see I'm ahead of the game (even if when I first heard his name I did think it was Milan Baros:evil::grin:)

Unless it's purely due to the presence of Houllier, if a loan move to Villa can tempt him then so can we...

It's everywhere in the Spanish press that Madrid are trying to re-sign RVN. i don't know where that will leave Benzema.

BBC Gossip via The independent: Jose says he stays

Benzema has been linked with a move to England but Mourinho said: "The fact that we are talking about bringing someone else in is not because we don't want Karim, it is because, aside from him, we have no one. He is working hard for his team-mates, unselfishly bringing them into play. At the moment he is just missing that little bit of hunger to score goals."

Mourinho has siad in a press conference that Benzema has less league goals than Sergio ramos and cavallho. He might be trying to get more out of him but to me that spells the end of benzema in Madrid.
Do we have forwards who have less league goals than defenders ?
