Will be very interesting to see how he does if he does join West Ham.

Ange should be the best judge given he managed him and he chose to go for Werner over him in the end (although that could be because he wanted cover at both LW and ST).

Agree, if there was a choice I think that's why he opted for Werner, that and the fact we can get him on a 6 month loan to cover us until next summer whereas there would be a fee for Jota and I'm guessing we don't have money for a perm deal for Jota on top of Dragusin this month?

I really really rate him and would be disappointed if we weren't interested tbh, think he'll do quite well at West Ham, him on the left and Kudus on the right behind Bowen would be quite tasty tbh.

If we now can't get Nusa I'd like to see us go for Jota but many disagreed in the Nusa thread (I'd love to know how many of those have actually watched Jota play very often tbh, but aside from that each to their own and no guarantee Jota would be a success in the PL but for me he'd offer our attack something we don't currently have and would be an upgrade on Solomon for example (who I do rate but think Jota is slightly better.

I thought rules had changed and 1 year was max loan length now? I'm sure Ally said that on a recent video.

“Tax issues.” There are no issues, he just doesn’t want to have to pay tax on what he’s earned in Saudi.

Those aren’t tax issues, they’re greed issues.

Apparently he has been added to the list of non HG players so will be able to play the second half of the season.

Or, he doesn't want to pay tax on what he hasn't earned, but has been given for fuck all in Saudi.

But, but ... didn´t Cristiano Ronaldo just say that the Saudi League now was better than the French Ligue 1? Why would anyone want to leave a top 5 level league? With astronomical paychecks? I don´t understand?!?

🙄

So, you found out it wasn´t as much "fun" as you thought it would be ...

You all get what you deserve, you greedy, money grabbing, tax avoiding asswipes with no moral backbone! Hope they do to you as they do to the thousands of other foreign workers in the area: take your passports and refuse to let you leave.

PS!
Yes, I fully suspect all foreign players in the Saudi pro mickey mouse league read the commentaries here at sc. And take it to heart.

We need another LW option, especially if Solomon is crocked still, really don't see why we aren't exploring this tbh.
We have done that with Werner?

When Son is back he or Richy will move to the left. Johnson and Gil, while not tailor made for a starting role as LW, can play there too.
And Solomon is not out for the season.

While I think it makes sense to add someone who really fits the system in the summer I don't think its an urgency now.

we need someone that can dribble past opponent full-backs and put the ball into the box, apart from Solomon I don't think anyone in our squad can do it effectively

Go is going to Brighton and Solomon has set backs. I don’t think it’s enough options personally, think we need one more.

Richy
Son/Werner
Kulu/Johnson

If Veliz & Solomon won’t be back for a while and we are moving on Gil then I’d bring in Jota on loan.

Guess it's something to do with his previous stint in the UK and perhaps trying to "re-use" that visa (not sure if that's a thing?) but on the face of it, it's not really clear to me why a Portuguese citizen who had been "working" in Saudi Arabia would owe tax to the UK in respect of that "work".

EDIT: Or maybe it's that he'd owe a load of tax to the Saudis?

If it’s not owed to the Saudi’s (and I do seem to recall they needed to stay for two years to enjoy the tax benefit), it’s to do with residency. UK taxes its residents (not citizens) on worldwide income. An early return could affect his resident status or require him to file a UK return and make his Saudi income taxable in the UK.
