I don't think it's too bad in January. Very fast, very good workrate and presses high up the pitch. 6 month loan with option. We were never getting a superstar forward in January

We wanted a player to play across the front line. Werner can do that.

slight concern how a short term signing will unbalance the unity in the squad but if Ange is happy then why not

I prefer Jota to Werner but Werner would be a better fit for our current weak areas in attack, Jota is primarily a LW of which we have a lot.

I do wonder what would have happened if Veliz didn’t get injured. He was starting to get game time regularly and scored.

I'd say Veliz if its long term and also perisoc being out for the season will have both contributed. Doubt we'll register IP second half and if bad Veliz won't be around either. Imagine they feel he can play both positions.

Would love to sign him in summer but probably no space for him if Solomon is best up and running our options next season would be something like:

ST: Richy,Werner,Veliz
RW: Kulu,Johnson
LW: Son,Solomon

Gil will be off imo and Veliz is still very young and we might not sign Werner on a perm so could well be space this summer to go for Jota.

Perhaps but having seen Jota play for Celtic a lot and in the CL I think he’s more than capable of the level we’d need imo.

As a rotation option he would do alright, much rather we went for Nusa or Bakayoko if we are buying a winger.

Getting Nusa now would make the most sense. If we got him now he’d be HG even if we loan him out and he could replace Gil’s spot next season.

Yea fair mate I’d put those 2 slightly above Jota but Jota would come pretty close, I really rate him, very exciting player different to anything we have right now and he’s only 24 still.

I wonder if Jota was being closely looked at due to his apparent availability and his past time under Ange, making him quick squad booster. But with Veliz getting injured, the need for someone who can play centrally as well as wide became more pressing.
I’m not sure I see room for Werner and Jota. Maybe Werner and then Nusa/Bardghji as they wouldn’t take up a squad space.
