Former Arsenal and Tottenham defender Sol Campbell reveals negotiations for first managerial job

Former Arsenal and Tottenham defender Sol Campbell has revealed he is in negotiations to take his first managerial job, possibly at a European club.

Campbell, who retired in 2012, has been largely absent from football over the past four years and pursued a career in politics, running for the Conservative Party nomination at the 2016 election for Mayor of London but failing to make the shortlist of four.

The 42-year-old won two league titles, three FA Cups and a League Cup during his career as well as earning 73 England caps. However Campbell believes he may have no choice but to manage abroad.

“I am in active negotiations and we will see how things pan out over the next two or three weeks,” Campbell told The Times.

“I am waiting for someone to come back to me. I will have to see the proposal. I am probably recognised more in Europe than my own country. Players and managers understand and appreciate me more.”

Campbell has studied for his Uefa A coaching licence and worked at former club Arsenal as a youth coach, mentoring Spanish full-back Hector Bellerin, in 2013.

Last year Campbell expressed his interest in taking over at Aston Villa following Paul Lambert’s departure and he hopes to be given an opportunity in the English game shortly.

“I have a five or six-year plan and eventually I will get a top club,” Campbell added.

“Everyone has their own destiny. Mine is to lead a top team in Europe and then, who knows, England. I am ready for it, for all the challenges. I was like that as a player; head down, committed.

“I have been through everything in life. Managers have to have that in their locker – humility, the psychological side, the fitness side, knowing when to put the arm around a player or to kick them up the behind; the brains, the patience, I have the fire in my belly.”

He really isn't right in the head and needs help, and this comes after the political delusions.

Such a deluded wanker. He should join forces with Sherwood.

Classic narcissist.

From wiki:

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a long-term pattern of abnormal behavior characterized by exaggerated feelings of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, and a lack of understanding of others' feelings.[4][5] People affected by it often spend a lot of time thinking about achieving power or success, or about their appearance. They often take advantage of the people around them. The behavior typically begins by early adulthood, and occurs across a variety of situations.

Does sound very much like him and fits a pattern of behaviour going back many years.

Anyone need only look at the way he treated Notts County to see his level of commitment. Complete bottle job.

He has a 5-6 year plan to end up at a "top club"? He's like the managerial equivalent to West Ham. It's going to end in so many tears. :ROFLMAO:

A 5-6 year plan? I wonder how long it took him to set up his scheduler to send him an alert each 6 months to remind him to play the race card and get a glass engraver to pop round and put "you don't need to do any actual lower league managerial work, you're Sol Campbell" into all of his full length mirrors

Anyone willing to bet me £50 that he will be Barcelona manager within 6 years? I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is and bet that it won't happen.

To be fair to him just look at all the amazing things he would have achieved if it wasn't for other people.

He can barely string a coherent sentence together let alone hold down a manager's position.
