Sol Campbell taunted on Twitter after blasting 'terrible' cafe worker

Footballer branded a ‘grass’ after naming and shaming staff member he claimed gave terrible service at London cafe

Sol Campbell, the former England defender, has become the subject of online ridicule after tweeting about receiving poor service at a London cafe on Wednesday.

The ex-Arsenal player posted: “Such terrible service from Liam at @CambridgeStCafe this morning! I will not be going back there again!”

Within minutes, social media users jumped to Liam’s defence, accusing Campbell of “being a grass” and trying to get an innocent man fired before Christmas.

Liam, who works at Cambridge Street Cafe in south-west London, tweeted a message to the footballer: “Liam here. Think we got off on the wrong foot. Would love to make amends. Hopefully see you soon.”

Here is a selection of other tweets making the rounds. The Guardian has contacted Liam for comment.

Always over estimating (yet full of) his own self importance. The guy is a grade a prick and is yet to do or say one thing to make me think otherwise

I doubt Liam has ever walked out of a shift halfway through.

Judas is just a weird, weird individual.

Very strange character. I try not to judge people too harshly in general, accepting that we're all capable of, and all exhibit, dickish behavior at varying points in life. That being said, Judas is clearly an exceptional ****, a spectacular turd, with apparently no redeeming features whatsoever

I've said it before, i'll say it again - whiney letdown merchant. He's shit out on every commitment he's ever made and, every single time, has blamed everyone but himself when someone even mutters it was a bit of a dick move.

I really don't care what he says or does anymore. If we all stop paying attention to him, maybe he'll just go away?

He's always at Baker & Spice cafe just round the corner from my work, I'm gonna go in there tomorrow and show them this, hopefully they'll stand in solidarity with their fellow cafes and refuse to serve him anymore.

I wonder if Liam's ever tried to take the Café for all the money they have despite them facing bankruptcy...

He (Campbell) probably wanted a shoulder to cry on about mansion Tax, but found Liam unsympathetic.

This guy is the reason for my deep seething hatred for the scum. I wasn't around back in the olden days (obviously) but this guy... man, I had him on my first shirt, fucking wanker.

What a ****. Guy is paid about £6 an hour and Campbell tries to sell him out to the whole world and cost him his job? I would Kevin Keegan love it if he was banned by every coffee shop in the country.

Have to disagree with you there. Think of how much worse it could have been.

Judas could have stayed with the gooners until the end of his career, and become a true legend for them. Could have scored the winning goal in the CL final (on my birthday of all days).

He could have turned out to be a charismatic and intelligent guy that won over the hearts of neutrals everywhere, and secured a permanent position as a pundit.

Instead he's proved himself to be a human cesspit of a 'man' that has left a trail of hatred in his wake as he stumbles blindly towards his next laughably moronic act of pathetic behaviour.

Long may it continue.
