The attitude some of you have towards a footballer who did football things 20 years ago that hurt your feelings is pathetic and downright creepy. Do you still hound and curse your ex who fucked off with your best friend 20+ years ago? No, you get over it and try and live well. The only thing gained in not doing so is more importance heaped on Arsenal.

Nobody really gives a toss about Sol until he comes out with shite like this, then he gets the pelters he deserves for being a twat.
He did fuck the club over, so that's never going to be forgotten and that's far less weird than disliking someone for which political party they vote for.
That's really fucking weird!

Oh, and I don't hound my ex but I do dislike her.
See? There's a difference there that you seem to be missing.

Disliking is understandable, my comments were more in reference to people saying they hope he gets abuse/reminders/harassment until he dies or whatever.

Yeah, that's far too much, not to mention threats and shit.
I keep my levels of hatred towards him to just thinking he's a dick, it's only a sport after all.

I don't even wish hurt on my ex and she ruined my life!
There's far too much anger, aggression and hatred in the world already, without me adding to it. Being angry about everything poisons a person from the inside, eats away at them and destroys any chance of happiness.

I do think it's a vocal and ignorant minority that behave like that though, not the masses.

For me, I’m a big fan of the idea that life is more important than football.

He’s the one exception that I simply don’t forgive.

Forgetting what he did and the person I see is one who is extremely foolish, self-absorbed and unaware.

He has no future as a manager, coach or pundit and by now he should have become an irrelevance. So I might comment when he says something to get media attention, in reality I think he’s old news.

All he’s done is remind people and fans will probably sign the song again. I think he one of them people that needs attention.

People shouldn't be abusing him in the street. If fans want to sing about him in the stadium that's a bit different. Personally I think he's pretty irrelevant now, so I try and ignore him apart from taking the piss out of his latest display of stupidity on here.

To be fair though, he was running after a tenner blowing away on the wind at the time.

The poor guy has a shocking lack of self awareness. We sometimes use the description of being deluded in a flippant way, but he is top of any deluded scale I have ever witnessed.

But we would not have the legend that is Antony Gardener
Just keeps on giving

It's funny that Antony Gardener was the last post before Sol's rant about being pacey. iirc, wasn't Gardener one of the fastest sprinters in the league at one point? Without a ball at his feet, he was a competitive sprinter but decided to take up football rather than athletics.

I will bet Sol was the kind of kid who would try and start dick-comparing contests in the playground, but with everyone in the year below him.

From an interview two days ago
Sol says he's stopped applying for jobs (while not getting out there to help others)

meanwhile
Former Spurs and Wigan defender Pascal Chimbonda says he is coaching Skelmersdale for free as he has found - like many black ex-players - his job applications have been ignored despite being well qualified.

The first guy can rot, while good luck Pascal.

Post itself is made more interesting when you look at who posted it!

Like an illiterate person announcing that they're giving up journalism. Shut up Sol! Nobody cares.

I sympathise for Chimbonda, but breaking into a new career despite qualifications is nothing new for Joe Public. He has done what I have advised many youngsters who are looking to get into IT. Skem have a good deal here, get some publicity out of it and potentially a decent coach over qualified for them. If Chimbonda delivers, Sen need to tie him down or he will be poached by a league club.

Sol hasn't got a great record, hasn't got a great personality but he HAS got a very high opinion of himself. None of those facets are attractive to a potential employer, so perhaps he could approach Skem and offer to coach them for free when Pascal is poached.

So he wasn't that serious about coaching after all?

He basically wanted the recognition and when people didn't give him it and told him he needed to knuckle down and prove it, he threw out the race card.

Now, the Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard cases give Sol's opinion a little bit of creedence but I would argue that is more down to his personality and previous record of leaving the field when he was at Arsenal and running out on Notts County, as well as lying about staying at Tottenham only to end up down the road.

Clubs will naturally be sceptical about offering him a job if they think he will just walk out after 5 minutes.

Gerrard and Lampard were both very loyal to their clubs, so at least there was no reason to doubt them, now there probably is.

Look at Liam Rosenior.

He got on the 'coaching ladder' by staying at Brighton as a coach and did his licenses. Got offered a role with Rooney at Derby and waited for his opportunity to move up. Now at Hull and doing a decent job.

Not once has he come out into the public and created PR and stated he has a 'brilliant football brain'.

He has got his head down and worked on it day-to-day.

I often watch The Coaches Voice/English FA videos and there are a few black coaches on there such as Yaya Toure, Paul Furlong, Michael Johnson and they all show total dedication to coaching and clearly don't have an ego. They just want to be top coaches and help players.

Can anyone honestly say that about Sol? He announced he wanted to be a coach once he realised he was heading into obscurity and then when he started and was given chances, he started complaining that he had his route blocked.

Could it be that every time he went for an interview, it was clear his heart wasn't totally into coaching but the 'idea of being an elite coach'?

When you tell the world you have a brilliant football brain, then appear as a pundit and prove you haven't you can't expect clubs to give you a job. Having said that if you are arrogant enough to tell people you have a brilliant football mind, then you probably can't understand why you are being overlooked.
