You have to wonder if he could have become the talisman that he was to us then in this day and age. With the window that we have on players lives and personalities now you'd have to think that we'd have surmised he was a total dildo long before he went across the way. We had so little window on who the players were as people back then, but everything he's said and done since that window opened has made him seem like an absolute lemon.
I think he would have still been the talisman. Football fans tend to be tribal to the point they overlook just how much of a weapon some of their players are.

Nobody respects him, even though the gooners like to rub it in our face about it nobody actually respects what he did, it was sly, slimy and dishonourable.

Not just that he went there but the way in which he did it.

he’s a ****, always has been and always will be.

I don't like him because he's a Tory but within a footballing context I agree with him. The time for people to get over it was long ago. Think what you like but abusing him and his family, especially in the street, is pathetic and deplorable behaviour imo.
Really? You want people to forgive him, while saying that you don't like someone because of their political alignment?!?
That's some fucked up thinking.

Oh dear, I'm sure our very large following tonight will make it known what they think of that article, Sol.

I'd be more inclined to get over it it he wasn't such a loathsome prat outside of football.

It also clearly bothers him a lot which doesn't exactly motivate people to stop giving him grief.

Knowing what he's experienced up to this day, I do wonder if he would change his decision. Surely no amount of personal success is worth the trauma and fear that he feels every time he and his family leave the house.
I’d rather players wanted to play for Spurs out of loyalty and ambition than because they fear for their safety.

But maybe that’s just me.

He’s a complete ****, but threats to him and his family are way too much. If he regrets his decision, fine, but if it’s only because people are still sending him death threats then that’s pretty fucking appalling.

I was talking to mates today about this. Campbell became irrelevant a long time ago, and lashes out to blame his irrelevance on us. Truth is, his very brief foray as a pundit was woeful, and he has nothing to offer the sport he grew up within. I don’t feel anything about him. It pissed me off at the time - not that he left, but the promises of staying that denied us the transfer fee to replace him, that’s what stung, the greed involved trousering the extra wages where 10m back then would have made a world of difference to the club and invested well could have seen us improve rather than regress. The rest of it? I don’t hate Hoddle for going to Chelsea, or Roberts, or Pat Jennings for Arsenal, and I cheered the hell out of Gallas when he was here, and Gus Poyet. Players come, players go. It’s just how they do it that makes the difference. The fact he pulled the same stunt with Arsenal to get out of his contract, then pocketed Portsmouth’s extra wages and then lacked the integrity to honour any sort of deal with Notts County… well all that just sums him up.

Is he still receiving death threats? If so then that's fucked up, why waste your time even writing one?
He is not in any way a pleasant or a nice man, but to take the time to send him something that could get the sender a criminal record or/and a prison sentence is even more troublesome.
The geezer is a ****, leave it at that.

I'll add to that a personal grudge of mine being that after he'd said he was staying, I went out a got the long-sleeved Adidas away shirt with his name on it, the blue one with the yellow sleeves.
Only ever got to wear that shirt once and I loved that shirt.
For that alone, he'll always be a massive **** for me! ?

It hurt.

Can you imagine how good it could have been with him and King at the centre of our defence.

Knowing him, I reckon he probably isn't still receiving them and is saying it as a way to gain sympathy.

Also, he's the kind of person to turn criticism into something worse.

Never his fault. He is just a victim.

Exactly is he. Or is he making it up to make himself relevant? Or he maybe believes it. He lied to us about staying so why would he not lie about this. He is like a huge turd that will not flush and the media keep stirring it up.

I’ve watched that video about 6/7 times and it gets funnier every time. The presenter can even see he’s looking up instead of straight ahead where Brazil and Belgium are so tries to help him out by repeating he wants an answer of either Brazil or Belgium.

France.

Stupid ****.

With regards to forgiving, no. Everything about the way it happened was out of order. It can be done respectfully (Jennings) though admittedly in this day and age it’s probably almost impossible for any respect due to social media/everything being magnified a thousand times over. Anyway, he lied several times and it ended up with our most valuable and iconic player/captain going to our main rivals for nothing. Fuck him. Death threats are obviously pathetic though.

I can really see the Spurs fans later singing:

Sol, Sol, wherever you may be
We forgive you for leaving on a free
You won loads of things, it no longer bothers me
So please come round for a nice cup of tea
