Our liverpool defeat seemed to only galvanise the teams close to us in the table..
This. A Spurs capitulation is the best antidote and cure for the rest of the teams' slump. I just don't understand they just find joy in our demise and get strength from it.

Hopefully he can get rid of the fringe players in January & improve the squad but I doubt Levy will be so willing after splashing the cash in the Summer

I’ve backed Jose since he’s been here and not exactly Jose out yet but, when we play that style of football you do question it. Southampton 1 point below us with good football and worse players ?‍♂️

+ if Jose was to go eventually Hassenhuttl right at top of the list

Another window or two. No manager can sort out the players he want in one year of two windows. Almost impossible.

We’ve played brilliantly in some games this season and it’s been more positive than negative. But in terms of ‘giving a window or two’ you’re essentially giving a manager two years of discretion. Which no top team can afford to do. If it’s the odd bad result and performance, then absolutely agree. We need to make sure the rot stops now. We can’t afford a sloppy run over the new year period. It will kill our season.

It broke our run and showed not only we could be beaten but that our luck can’t hold forever. Allowing teams to have two thirds of the pitch and rain in shots is at best a flawed strategy. As it’s the only strategy that makes it worse

I'm seeing the reaction criticising Mourinho's style getting called out as knee jerk but the love in for the style after the good run of results is as much of a knee jerk. The point people are making now is the same one they were making after the first game of the season.

Mourinho will play defensive football even when it's not the best way to get the best out of the squad we have.

What would you change, personal wise? I'm not digging you out, just genuinely wondering. I know someone for Sissoko is probably going to be a likely one and for the RW position to be addressed, but I look at a performance like today's and wonder how much of our problems lies with needed additions and how much lies with needing to set out in a different manner.

Starting to feel utd vibes already in terms of patterns of play and results . Ours draws have mounted up this season and some turgid football.
IMO we should actually have more points this season, west ham, Newcastle , palace are all games we should be winning

You've listed turgid football next to two games where we led one game three zip entering the final ten and another game where after scoring we created countless chances and didn't take them, allowing for the mother of all pens to be awarded in the final minute ... Fans need to be able to separate narratives from what actually happened.

The games against Burnley where we huffed and puffed and ground out a win and the draw away to Chelsea might better fit the narrative - might being the operative word.

The 3 games that you quoted were results of late free kicks conceded by Aurier in exactly the same position by exactly the same player

Surely its Aurier to blame?

This is the essence of my problem with him. I'm perfectly okay with defensive football against City, Chelsea, Liverpool etc. The problem I have is that he adopts the same tactics even when it amounts to shooting ourselves in the foot.

Sitting back on a one-goal lead against Palace, who were all over the shop defensively and could not cope with us at all when we actually bothered to fucking play, was indefensible. Dragging Ndombele off at half time when chasing the game today backfired spectacularly. Yes there was an element of bad luck in that Lo Celso was injured immediately, leaving us bereft of creativity, but that's the risk you take when you leave yourself depending entirely on one player for creativity.

There's a balance to be struck. We should be pragmatic when pragmatism is called for. Jose seems to think it's called for in every single fucking match. He hasn't found the balance. Not even close.

Who are you going to buy who will replace Sissoko though? Finding a CM who is quality defender and top class passing player is a bit like chasing the holy grail. No one is going to work harder, and stick to tactical instructions more, than Sissoko and that is the sole quality that Mourinho is putting him in the squad for. If he wanted a better defensive screening midfielder he could play Dier in midfield and the passing quality of the midfield wouldn't drop.

We play in a high risk, high return way. The risk hasn’t paid off lately and we’re not getting the results and unsurprisingly the play is shit, that’s all part of the risk. When it’s not working it’s really not working. But it will improve because that’s what he gets. Having come through that run of games with a reasonable return we can only look to the Stoke game now. On the cusp of a cup. We’re still top 4. If Mourinho was capable of winning the league in his first full season it would have been one of the biggest shocks in world football.
But he HAS to finish top 4.

That is the minimum requirement and I know many fans that will require glory along with that to put up with this good boring football.

He needs a kante type in for sisisko.
He needs a CD a top class one.
But what he Really needs is a plan B and set of balls.

If I had to, I would choose fifth or sixth in the league if it meant we won the Europa. We need Champions League football next season, that is the priority, but I would have no issue getting it on the back of silverware.

However, I wouldn't be able to take the stress of needing to win the final if we were out of the top 4 so I really hope we do both.

Just watched his post match presser.

Hes right about the first half.

We did start badly, had 10 mins where we started to make headway. Then Aurier really blew that with his stupidity.

Who knows maybe the second half would have started better at 0-0.

Lo Celso going off certainly harmed plans.

But Jose's wrong about the second half, we looked like we had limited ideas and Leicester had a few moments in which they could have scored.

Jose has to find a balance. We cant play a high line with Dier and Toby. But we cant sit back all the time

He’s had a window or two.

Exactly and look at the players we can safely say he has had an influence in signing:

Said this earlier in the thread:

Not including Bale, Reguilon, Bergwijn as these aren't Jose signings as such even though he gave the ok to sign them think the work on them was done by Hitchen and Levy.

Gedson - Complete waste of time barely kicked a ball for us and when he has he has looked well short of the level needed.
Doherty - Again looks shell of the player we were expecting him to be - Maybe a reason Wolves let him go for £15 million - put in one of the worst perfomances I can ever remember from a spurs player in the Europa League against LASK the other week.
Vinicus - Barely plays when he does normally gets hauled off before the end of the game. Also is not even a regular in the match day squad when he is fit. Which says it all considering he is the only other out and out striker we have in first team squad besides Kane. Hard to see at the moment us spending £30 million on making his deal permanent.

By way no coincidence all three players agent is his mate Mendes who would have got nice commission from those deals.

Thing is this squad still needs a big clear out of players as too many players in it are just not at the level we need them to be at. But judging by the transfers he has been involved in and his previous record of transfers at Manchester United when they signed the players he wanted I would be very apprehensive about giving him money to spend in the transfer market.

Weve lost 2 games in a row for the first time this season and you're talking about him going already. Holy fuck
