dortmund sign jude bellingham from Birmingham £26 million.

Great move for him. I can imagine many young players will be watching Sancho and then players like Sessegnon when they decide where is best to continue their career. Can't say I would recommend us to any young footballer.

We really missed a trick by not taking both kovacic and cabellos on loan from real madrid. Ultimately madrid are/were willing to sell these players and both of these players gone to arsenal and chelsea for less than what we paid for ndombele ... Sometimes we had to be creative ...

Arent Arsenal paying an arm and a leg for the Ceballos loan?

And now he's on form they are finding out how stupid it was not having a loan to buy option, at a certain figure, like we wanted.

Even if arsenal paying arm and leg for cabellos, next season madrid will sell him for 20-25m and if arsenal pay 10m for this year's loan, then the total value of the deal is only 30-35m ... Not much .. cheaper than ndombele .. Madrid will sell just like they sold kovacic for less money after his successful stint at chelsea

We didn't miss a trick, we can't buy every player! They are completely different players anyway.

Poch was keen on Ceballos, but option to buy is the best way. Tielemans may be viewed as a good buy, but Leicester ended up having to pay double the asking price after a good loan because they didn't have an option.

Kovacic has been generally good but they are going to pay £50m for someone who doesn't really score/assist.

Ceballos had a couple of good games at the beginning and end of the season, otherwise very average. It's cost them £15m already and he's already said he doesn't want to leave Madrid, he might have to yes, but then again Zidane might leave and the next manager wants him.

was going to say, i love dortmund's recruitment. young, eager players who aren't quite ready for that elite move, think it's what we need to get back to.

"Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal to sign Nathan Aké from Bournemouth. As Pep Guardiola accelerates a rebuild of City’s defence following an unsuccessful defence of their Premier League title, it is believed Aké will become a key recruit for a fee in the region of £35m."

From the Guardian.

Decent signing but I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a few errors, although he's with a coach who is good at improving players with technical ability.

I imagine City will be in the market for a LB, CM, RW and CF.

They're losing Sane, Silva.
Aguero is knocking on
Mendy needs replacing
They never replaced Kompany
and they may need to look at another cm.
Dr Bruyne and Guendogan will soon be over 30.

Good luck replacing them. Hopefully Pep makes a fudge of it like he did in his first season at City.

Is he going to get in ahead of Laporte who is their left side centre back then?

Maybe they'll play him left back....
I think they could play Laporte and Ake alongside each-other and still have a better defence than what they have now. I don't know about this myth that you can play 2 right-footed CB's, or a right-footed and a left-footed, but not too left-footed. Laporte is easily good enough to shift over and still be able to read the game.

Regardless of that he'll be a fantastic signing.

Like we did with GLC?

I like GLC though :) but maybe Kovacic is to them what GLC is to us i.e. a transitional type player who will create openings but not really assist or score..

Both lefties, not sure Pep likes playing like that.

The reason it is easier to play 2 right footed centre backs is because of the lack of left footed centre backs.

That means that as a right footed centre back you will have spent a lot of your development playing on the left so are more familiar with the position.

I would be amazed if Jan ever played as a right sided CB growing up but Toby almost certainly played as a left sided CB.

Tackling, passing and reading of the game are slightly different if you play on your 'wrong' side so do take some getting used to.

It is the same as a centre back playing in a back 4 for their whole career and then being asked to play in a back 5. They will do ok but might need some time to adjust.

So not a myth but just very rare.
