Juventus in for Giroud now apparently.

Would love him at spurs but seems that ship has sailed now, plus Roman doesn’t like to do business with us apparently (presumably because we were impertinent enough to kick off over his illegal tapping up of Arnesen and the gall of us not selling them Modric).

Not going to happen, they can't just have Werner/Abraham. They need to shift midfielders.

Very surprised Arse seem willing to let him go, he deputised really well for Leno.

When money is short getting serious money for someone who's hardly ever played is a great deal. He's done well but if Leno is fit he won't play and they have places in the team where the money would be of more use.

Money is short yet they pay extortionate wages to Willian and Özil and are about to commit more to Aubameyang.

It's dreadful squad building and the reason why I don't see them getting top four.

Over 60m spent by Villa now without any income from sales. Didn't think they had that kind of money. Spending the Grealish money before they have it?

Villa are loaded. They got new investment when we were chasing Grealish which increased his price and decreased their need to sell.
They are now owned by an Egyptian billionaire

That is a top signing for Villa given how Martinez played in the summer. Arsenal once again leaving themselves short in one area to placate the men on big bucks.

Another injury to Leno and they're all kinds of screwed.

Looks like they’re bringing in Raya from Brentford to replace him.

Disagree, you don't need two good keepers and its better to get rid and improve first 11 like Partey

How many games have we had to use our backups in the last three or four years? Liverpool, us, Arsenal, all three had keeper injuries last season, and Chelsea had to call upon their backup when their first choice proved unreliable. It's not good enough to only have one quality keeper when you're fighting on several fronts, many recent seasons have proved that.

And Arsenal are looking at the guy who let a 40 yard pot shot free kick past him in the playoff final?

TBH I feel like those are freak accidents

For Me I rather take the risk and get in an emergency loan, its like Henderson at Man Utd, he needs to go out on loan or risk stalling his Development imo

Current first choice keepers injured in the PL: Dubravka, Heaton.

Why did Burnley at one point have three potential England international goalkeepers in their squad? Because two of them were injured.

Leno was injured for three months just last season. Hugo seems to have a spell out every season. The only keeper who has appeared to be invulnerable when you take a look at his injury record is De Gea, and he's been rested in cup games in recent seasons, Romero has usually played those and I'm sure Henderson will fill that role this season. That's still approx. 20 games a season assuming United go far in all comps.

Not having a good second choice keeper is a bad idea and I won't be swayed on that.

The other thing to consider is that your goalkeeper can go out of form, then what do you do? You don’t have a goalkeeper good enough to compete with him to either replace him for a few games or give him the motivation to do better knowing he could lose his spot.

Its a very silly transfer considering Martinez looked very good for them.

TBF there is a difference between a good second choice keeper and a first 11 keeper as your backup

For example Vorm when we signed him was great

No Premier League team has a keeper on their bench worth around £20m and if they do they're made to imo, look at Man City and Liverpool have Bravo and Adrian.

Keeper out of form?

The top clubs are spending £70m on goalkeepers and they aren't even certified the best keepers in the world to get that fee

Of course when you buy a keeper you have to get it right! If you're chopping and changing keepers, youre chances of success go down.

Look at the top teams in recent years -
Liverpool - Allisson
Man City - Ederson
Tottenham - LLoris
Leicester - Schmeichel
Arsenal - Cech
Man Utd - De Gea
Chelsea - Courtios
Man City - Hart
Man Utd - Der Saar

As soon as you move you start run in to trouble, If you dont have a clear no.1 keeper you won't tend to have success in the league.

The Kepa transfer is mental because they got it wrong. Not because they need another keeper!

Btw im not saying you should have a scrub as your no.2 but a good no.2 is a typically a free agent who is reliable. We have a great no.3 and good no. 2
