Pompey were docked 9 points in 2010 when they went into administration. They would've been relegated even without the deduction.
And Middlesbrough were deducted three points in 1997 and had they not been they would've stayed up.
No, Boro were deducted three points and Blackburn were also awarded three points.they weren’t docked 3 points per se, they didn’t fulfil a fixture because their squad were suffering from illness. The other team were automatically awarded the victory. That had nothing to do with financial fair play.
By Christmas, Middlesbrough were deep in relegation trouble, despite Ravanelli proving himself as one of the league's top goalscorers. Added to this, Middlesbrough were faced with the wrath of the Football Association for postponing a fixture against Blackburn Rovers at short notice. The club's officials insisted that manager Bryan Robson had been unable to field a team due to a severe injury and illness crisis among his players, but this did not prevent the Football Association from docking the club 3 points.
No, Boro were deducted three points and Blackburn were also awarded three points.
The reason for the deduction was really as simple as that Robson decided they were going to abandon game but didn't notify the FA in due course. Or rather, they claimed they had the FA's blessing but the FA disagreed.
Very cringe. Still think we sold him too early.I expected cringe but... wow, that was something else

I don't often post about transfers involving 40-year-olds in the fifth tier of French football, but when I do it's because Steeeeeeeeeeeeed.
A natural consequence of being the richest league in the world over a number of years. Players both starting and fringe get paid extraordinary amounts more than they would in any other league so they become harder to shift before their contract expires.Seems like most of the other PL clubs are having an almost impossible time with unloading the deadwood and/or raising funds right now and it’s not just us.
It’s unbelievable. He still starts for Netherlands.Probably been talked about already but I totally missed that Joel Veltman left Ajax this summer to join.. Brighton for £900k?!
He was supposed to be the next big thing from Ajax for a long time but seems like his career went steadily downhill. I saw he did his ACL but Brighton?! For £900k?!
He had a €1m release clause this summer apparently, must've only had a year left on his deal or something.Probably been talked about already but I totally missed that Joel Veltman left Ajax this summer to join.. Brighton for £900k?!
