Looks as if united have got maguire, £85m bonkers ?
£72mil for Pepe was silly enough. Manure outdone the scums. I'm loving this kind of poor run of the clubs from our rivals.

A few more seasons without CL for them will be so fun.

I agree, but it doesn’t help the prices or wages for everyone else.

I like Maguire but £85m is insane.

I believe the balance will return. Milking can only apply to that few dumb clubs.

What I'm more concerned is Leicester may now disrupt some of the market if their interest in some players are of our targets, with the sudden windfall.

Doubt they’ll get an £85m quid player to join them and pay the wages that go with it. They’ll be after a few players in the £30m range. Their problem is that clubs now know they have that money.

There was talk of them paying £40m for Dunk from Brighton a couple of weeks ago.

Agree. But say they suddenly are forking up the amount Betis asked for GLC, they can. Of course provided if he wants to go there. Just saying. It is indirectly doing us no good if things are so coincidental.. Haha, hope not.

This is becoming a bit of bug bear of mine, accurate reporting of transfer fees. Too many words for some media outlets!

There is the minimum fee the club will pay, then add ons that may or may not be achieved plus the agent fees. E.g Pepe may cost 75-80, Maguire 85-90m.

I think it's either an initial figure that could rise to......

I won't get into the euro rate, I choose to believe we still have euro's at 1.40 so Ndombele only cost £42m:)

Rant over:cautious:

I like Maguire as well but i can't believe he is the most expensive defender in history.....

I feel like you could get a player who does 85% of what Maguire does for tens of millions less

People say English clubs are distorting the market, but look at the records for transfer fees from the top of the list down. Don’t see many English clubs there!

The English clubs are to blame for signing average players for big fees on fat contracts.

It must be a top 6 side. Some on reddit seem to think Spurs may be the team (as Poch likes him and has coached him), but I just can't see it, personally.

Sounds like bullshit but if it's anyone my guess is Arsenal aka Loan FC. They already took Ceballos on a one year loan. :hilarious: We know that we'd never fatten someone else's cow, we're not taking any players on loan unless there is an option to buy. Small club mentality.

Using Eriksen in a swap deal for the likes of Coutinho or Dybala would be the best way to maximize his value though IMO. Just can't see the bastard Coutinho wanting to come here.

The common thought is that there is an option to buy.

Sounds like he wants to prove himself at Barca so I'm guessing they'll have a tough time offloading him this window. Unbelievable that they spent 140m on him and are so quick to axe him.

It's Valverde's fault. He's best on the LW but that's Messi. His second best position is deeper, but that's Rakitic...

If Eriksen is off then Coutinho makes perfect sense for us.

Undoubtedly means he’ll go to a rival!
