Hoping United and Liverpool both get favourable draws and reach the Quarters. The first leg of the quarter finals will take place a few days after our game Vs Liverpool and 3 days before the United game.

With them both possibly having almost nothing to play for in the league by then, I'd rather them be focusing on EL than on our games. Also don't want United having a whole weeks rest leading up to the game with us potentially having a tough quarter final on the Thursday

I would genuinely be happy with either Liverpool or United to be honest.

Neither team is very good at the moment and it avoids us having to travel too far.

Overall though we can beat any team in this competition over 2 legs. Why worry about when we have to do that?

Personally I'd love to do Sevilla...never forgiven them for putting us out after the 'penalty' given against Robinson and Steed's own goal.

Yes. Completely open draw, no restrictions.

I hate playing other English teams in Europe, takes all the fun out of it. So hope we can avoid that (but would PMSL if they drew each other).

Agreed

Although the easy travelling would help with our busy schedule

The only teams I'd "fear" as such would be Dortmund or Shakhtar purely because of the travel. Great to see Napoli go out but shame scum like Lazio are still in.

Obviously I'd like someone like Prague or some other 3rd rate shite. I'd fancy us against most other than Dortmund to be honest

Travelling is not really a big issue. Get to the airport, get on a plane, get off a plane, get to the stadium. In effect, the difference is only how long you are in the air, and how far the airport is from the stadium. Apart from that, exact same procedure going to Manchester as going to Braga or Prague.

Yeah, true enough and I guess we shouldn't overstate it, but it's the little things when travelling in the country that you're used to...

...like stopping for a Ginsters pasty on the M1 :)

I suppose to a certain degree, it always seems like these ... draws are heavily premeditated, simply to be presented as pure chance when theY in fact are deliberate. Bearing that in mind, what would be an obvious fixture if the draw were to be in fact planned? Is Tottenham-Basel one obvious choice?

Just gonna put this there... from the manager in last nights game:

“I believe that Spurs are in the top five in Europe at the moment, in terms of the intensity and quality of their play,” Fiorentina manager Paolo Sousa. “After the second goal, we found it extremely difficult. Until 1-0, I thought the game was well-balanced.”

Thats some serious compliment, make no mistake, Fiorentina aren't a bad team, in fact one of the better teams in the EL and riding very high in Serie A.

I think the the only thing that lets the EUFA Cup down, is that it is severely devalued by giving those who fail in CL a second chance to win something, which IMO is completely unfair.

Other than that, I think it is great competition. I don't think Spurs fans were complaining on the magical nights in 72 and 84, when we won the competition. Yes, it has changed since then, but you still get some great clubs in the competition and so far this year we have beaten Monaco and Fiorenta.

Neville's Valencia is getting United. First management job he has to go back to Old Trafford at some stage, so what's the betting it's now?

Sparta, Braga or Basel (would like to see Embolo up close for two games).

Let the bigger/tougher sides knock each other out.

Dortmund vs Sevilla
Fenerbache vs Shaktar
Lazio vs Villarreal

Spurs vs Sparta Prague

That would be the dream. Those top 6 are the 6 teams I'd fear most for various reasons, so would be great if 3 are guaranteed to go out. And we get an easier team with a great trip to Prague to top it off.

If it was premeditated the english teams will get the easiest draws. English teams bring the most money from tv rights for cl and el and there is no way uefa would like to see less english teams in those competitions.

I want Liverpool and United out ASAP. Don't want them near winning anything or sneaking a CL spot.

Their league spots have been derailed enough that Europa is an irrelevant distraction for them compared to us. Even if they had a fixture close to us I think they'd take us more seriously. Getting embarrassed in the PL is still much worse than getting embarresed in the EL, regardless of table position.

The only purpose they serve is to help England's coefficient.
