Not the easiest draW but not the worst either, I can see us doing that over two legs, I do get the moans about the champions league clubs though, I just don't think they should even drop into it alt all!! I know it is supposed to make it more exciting but I think it just devalues the cup even more

See Utd get the easy task. Fiorentina are having a very good season so far, it will be a very hard game.

At least Arsenal got Barca in the CL

Didn't help them much in the CL, though.
True, they were shit but that's not really the point. They get easy draws more often than not.

It's good in a way as it keeps them in the competition meaning more games for a threadbare squad. They will try to rectify that in January I'm sure.

CL drop outs should not be allowed in the EL. Given that they are the draw should be such that the CL teams entering the EL can only draw each other in the first knock out round

That idea makes way too much sense for UEFA to consider it.

Team talk's sorted for this one at least. Poch will pin last season's result on the tactics board and say "If you lose a big fight, it will worry you all of your life. It will plague you - until you get your revenge.". Drop mic, walk out.

If we have any realistic ambitions of being competitive in the Champions league in the future then we have to deal with teams like Fiorentina.

And you can guarantee that despite ours being the best tie BT will prioritise Liverpool and Man Utd.
Of course they will. Our only hope is that UEFA schedule both of them to play at the same time and for us to get the other time slot.

You'll have to firgive me if I/were still a bit dubious, as we have 2nd halfs in us like we played against Newcastle that I thought we had eradicated.

Fiorentina is probably the toughest draw we could have got.

Wonder whether the clowns who were assuring everyone on the Monaco team thread that 'if we finished top of the group we got an easy draw so we must play some of our top players v Monaco' will have the courage to come on this thread and admit they were wrong ........:clown::clown::clown::eek:.......and don't do the same thing next season

On a different note, think this tie takes on another important meaning - Italy has been drawing closer to England in the co-efficient wars. So we probably need to win this one to stop the Italian tide who want to take the 4th CL place away from England who would then have only 3 CL places (and all co-efficient points won in EL count in that score too).

I was hoping for any of them other than Galatasary, Fenerbache, Shakhter or Fiorentina - purely because I wanted a new decent away day. But as Borks said, we were treated like shit out there last year and the booze ban and midnight was a right pain in the arse. Will have to wait for the next round and hope we go through! Although we'll probably then draw United or Liverpool...
