Appreciate that as Spurs fans we might all collectively give the EL a swerve this season, but here's the draw for the playoffs with the third qualifying round ties being played this week. Tie losers drop into the ECL.

Europa League play-off draw

SK Rapid Wien (AUT) / Anorthosis Famagusta FC (CYP) vs FC Zorya Luhansk (UKR)
FK Jablonec (CZE) / Celtic FC (SCO) vs AZ Alkmaar (NED)
Fenerbahçe SK (TUR) vs Neftçi PFK (AZE) / HJK Helsinki (FIN)
NS Mura (SVN) / FK Žalgiris Vilnius (LTU) vs SK Sturm Graz (AUT)

Omonoia FC (CYP) / FC Flora Tallinn (EST) vs Royal Antwerp FC (BEL)
Olympiacos FC (GRE) / PFC Ludogorets 1945 (BUL) vs Lincoln Red Imps FC (GIB) / ŠK Slovan Bratislava (SVK)

FK Crvena zvezda (SRB) / FC Sheriff Tiraspol (MDA) vs CFR 1907 Cluj (ROU) / BSC Young Boys (SUI)

Leicester and WHAM enter straight into the group stage, so sadly no chance of an Astro Fucking GooGoo moment this season.

Results of the first leg of the third qualifying round. Strong result for St. Johnstone away at Galatasaray.

No way we should send Tanganga to Turkey if they can't beat St. fucking Johnstone.

Playoff first legs are as follows. Not sure what Celtic v Alkmaar is TBC but that might be dependent of the outcome of the Midtjylland business discussed in the CL thread?

Thursday 19 August
Slavia Praha (CZE) vs Legia Warszawa (POL)
Omonoia (CYP) vs Royal Antwerp (BEL)
Randers (DEN) vs Galatasaray (TUR)

Rangers (SCO) vs Alashkert (ARM)
Olympiacos (GRE) vs Slovan Bratislava (SVK)
Rapid Wien (AUT) vs Zorya Luhansk (UKR)

tbc
Celtic (SCO) vs AZ Alkmaar (NED)

I wonder who the first poster other than me will be in this thread. Full playoff results, the draw precedes our ECL draw today.

Europa League draw in full
Group A: Lyon, Rangers, Sparta Prague, Brondby
Group B: Monaco, PSV Eindhoven, Real Sociedad, Sturm Graz
Group C: Napoli, Leicester City, Spartak Moscow, Legia Warsaw
Group D: Olympiakos, Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, Royal Antwerp
Group E: Lazio, Lokomotiv Moscow, Marseille, Galatasaray
Group F: Braga, Red Star Belgrade, Ludogorets, Midtjylland
Group G: Bayer Leverkusen, Celtic, Real Betis, Ferencvaros
Group H: Dinamo Zagreb, Genk, West Ham, Rapid Vienna

West Hams group doesn't look too bad, glad Leicester got spartak, will be a fair bit of traveling for that game.

West Ham got quite lucky with that, let's just hope they too lose by three goals in Zagreb.

A lot tougher for Leicester with Napoli and a long trip to Moscow but they should go through.

Celtic and Rangers got it tough. Leverkusen, Betis and Lyon? Sparta Prague won't be easy either.

Napoli v Leicester is a tasty couple of games though.

Do 3rd placed teams drop down into the Conference League?

Play off vs 2nd place teams in the Europa conference league, winners of those games play winners of Europa conference league in the next round

Cheers for that. Can't say I like that, especially when a team could play in all 3 euro competitions in the same year. The ECL isn't going to be a walk in the park by any means.

Leicester looking extremely stodgy and losing to Legia in Warsaw. Strong-ish side from them too.

Many people here shat themselves when Leicester signed Soumare but he's had a totally peripheral start and I hardly noticed he was on the pitch today.

Yeah apparently Daka's had a shocker as well. Still early but they're yet to make any name for themselves in a Leicester shirt. Maybe it wasn't as bad as it seemed to not be in for Soumare and Daka.

If you could put together a group that guaranteed fan-related mayhem you'd probably go for Lazio, Marseille and Galatasaray as three of your picks.

Ugly scenes at the Velodrome today, to be expected really.
