They play incredible football and their players seem like generally good guys, lacking in a lot of the wankery that came with the great United, Chav and Goon teams. Pep is obviously a genius who has changed the game and champions stylish attacking football.

They are part of the poison system that football has become but I find it genuinely hard to dislike them....especially this season with the beating they put on the goons.

The sourness here is abit much, I don’t like City and what they stand for but the final was a decent enough watch and top level players delivering. I think Inter were excellent tonight. Plus at least the next few days won’t be about West Ham and how amazing Moyes is

There is a lot of sour grapes in this thread in an attempt to make ourselves as fans feel better about our failures. I should add, also on social media generally. I dislike Man City but mainly because of their fans, and didn't want them to win the CL but they have been the best team and Pep really is an exceptional manager.

It takes more than just money, just look at Chelsea and PSG - it takes a clear plan, structure to implement it and yes finances to fund it - which we all know there is an issue. It isn't like Man City is why we have won fuck all... and feels like we are precious about it - and I accept, people all have different thoughts and feelings about it. Maybe I don't get it because their win isn't in any way affecting me and I dont have sour grapes like some ... Man United have every right to be aggrieved though got to admit.

On a separate note, I thought the commentary was OTT hyperbolism but there is a hell of a lot of moaning about it, and not just commentary but the punditry. If you don't like the commentary, mute it. Listen to the radio, do something else but no one has locked you in a room blaring it.

Enjoyed the game, I like watching City tainted money notwithstanding
but that's on the football authorities not the clubs
Inter made them play and could have snatched it at the end.
Lukaku missed a sitter and then blocked a goal-bound header.
They hit the bar with Emerson scramblig but City's back line was very solid
especially Rodri who scored the only goal with a lovely strike.
I live a sheltered life and don't know any City fans

I don’t think you’re alone. I certainly don’t have a soft spot for them but my biggest takeaway last night was, “This is gonna really rattle Utd fans”. I’m sure Liverpool fans were similarly displeased that City have now won the Champions League.

I don’t know any City fans. I’m surrounded by southern Liverpool fans, and anyone associated with Utd in the media carries an arrogance that it is impossible to ignore. So those two sets of insufferable fans being annoyed is just dandy in my book.

The FFP issues should be punished but I will be shocked if that punishment is anything which affects the history books, so I’m just not allowing that to wind me up.

Hi Jazz, I’m not saying it’s not a shared opinion in other parts of the world, I’m saying it is still a very small portion of the fan base that cares about it in comparison to those who simply don’t care at all. I’m a well travelled individual, and I can tell you for a fact most football fans rarely care about these sort of things. They care about the name that goes on the trophy and the football that team plays on the pitch, not much else. That’s not to say some fans do care, but it’s a minority in this case.

You could be right. It is difficult to quantify as football means more to some people than others. I just have a slightly different experience than yours. I absolutely agree, though, that it is not talked about enough. It should be all that people talk about, because it is so so so wrong.

I probably should've also added the caveat that I grew up in the 90's/early 00's and every one of my mates was United. Painful existence as a Spurs fan and the PTSD from the 99 treble and the Pedro Mendes incident alone will never heal

Poor translation. It was more a sarcastic reference to someone else who mentioned being who had been well traveled at least twice and as a result he was in a better position to judge what the worlds football fans thought about city’s success. Which like you say, is a pretty shit viewpoint.
