I should probably put this reply in the 'Unpopular opinions amnesty' thread but every year I say the same thing that we should concentrate on the league and use the Europa to develop our youth players and keep our squad players fit. Even with a CL place available the Europa is a marathon which we have little chance of winning and it has been shown time and time again how it negatively effects a teams league performance. This year it will not only possibly cost us a top 4 finish but potentially a Premiership title win. Also we miss out on developing potential young stars through lack of game time.

Bring on the neg ratings .

I was glad to see Villareal draw Napoli.
I just know that Soldado would score against us, it always happens and Napoli are a very good side imo.
Fenerbahce vs Lokomotiv is not a good draw.

I dont see why we cant concentrate on the league and still put out a decent side in the europa. We arent playing in it again til February and only have to play 4 games to be in a quarter final

Resting/rotating players vs Monaco hardly helped against Newcastle..

I say we just go balls deep and try and win the thing. Will be very hard, but a European Cup final would be very special.

There's a good chance that rotating too many players from game to game will have more of a negative impact on our play than fatigue from playing too many games. Wouldn't surprise me if we get better results from changing one or two player every game we play, rather than to have two completely different line ups from UEFA to league games.

Would say the opposite.

We would get better from playing an A team in the league and B team in Europa. I would say that changing 5 or 6 and then performing less well, not to mention travelling to Asia etc. , is far more disruptive. That amazing one-touch football and superhuman motivation of a month ago vanished at the Quarabag game.

We are doing exactly what I and plenty of others criticised in similar thread at start of the season. I will find it and post it.

I would say that we should never read or link to Realsport101

That was the question, right?

Balls deep eh. Oooo.

I asked my misses if I could put my balls in her, she was actually very keen on the idea. Think I need to marry this one up asap...

Oh and go win Europe league, its a nice looking cup and champs league, if we can't do that and the league at the same time we are small time.

Draw today at noon. We can meet any of 15 contenders, no restrictions:
Almost only really cool and reputable competition, can't understand why anyone wouldn't want us to compete in this part of EL.

Who would you want us to meet?
Qualified teams
I'd prefer Braga, and let all the other heavy weights fight it out between them selves to get rid of some.
Alternatively, ManUtd to ship them out of the competition.

Matches 10th & 17th of March.

All decent teams as you say. In the old days of european cup (champions), cup winners cup and UEFA cup, it was often the UEFA cup that was toughest to win as it had 2nd to 4th from each league so more strength in depth than the european cup. With the champions league now that was not the case but in the last few years the top leagues in europe seem to be stronger so the Europa is getting stronger, also with the champions league drop outs going in as well. How many of the last 16 are champions league dropouts i wonder? I could look it up but am a bit lazy.

I want to avoid the English clubs just because that would be boring.
