If the main concern for him going to us is playtime then what will he be experiencing in Atletico? Suarez is old, granted, but still world class. It is a fundamental part of the Diego Simeone experience that he can never be happy with the striker he has and that the next striker he gets is the one he really needs.

Makes perfect sense to me. Suarez is their only proper no.9 and he's 34. The other 2 forwards Correa and Felix can't lead the line. Not in the way that Suarez can, anyway.

So city have decided to make an offer, specifically €80m euros + add ons, but Fiorentina are waiting to receive it.

we see him as the ideal kane replacement. they’re a very similar profile, with similar strengths and weaknesses (obviously kane is far more developed). if they can’t get him, then in theory, going for the player we’ve identified as his ideal replacement would be the go to, no?

The striker situation for City is simple. Kane is the missing piece in that Dias-Stones-Rodri-De Bruyne spine. That team still has 2 seasons left before KDB legs fall apart like Aguero's did. Kane will certainly adapt to how they play, he knows the league and he will be motivated to give City what they need most: the Champions League.

Vlahović is probably equally talented, but still a prospect. He will have to adapt to the league, he has not played in the CL, Euros and World Cups. If they get him, they've got a striker, but one that will be fully ready in 2-3 seasons time. He will be the missing piece in 'The Foden team".

I don't think Guardiola has the time, even with his new contract. He wants CL right now.

I can see why the City organisation would like a Vlahović, he would stick longer than Guardiola, but this team needs Kane and Guardiola knows that.

Yeah maybe, but they have a salary cap they need to abide to, and if they can't sell Saul, then it's a pretty big risk going in for Vlahovic? Lemar and Felix are yet to prove their value to the club. From what I can see, the fans are not to sure about this one, whilst we actually need him.

Proper tin foil hat stuff, but do you it's possible City would "begin negotiations" for Vlahovic to stall for time and prevent Atletico buying him. This would, in turn, buy City more time to assess the Kane situation, while keeping our no.1 replacement on the market. Then if they sign Kane, they pull out of the Vlahovic negotiations, leaving us with an open runway to sign him.

Guarantee all of the above is utter horseshit, but that's what this stupid transfer window has driven me to.

Ignoring the validity of all the Twitter idiots I am not surprised that city are looking at alternative strikers as they are preparing for
the likelihood that Kane isn’t coming.

I have always bought that city saw him as a nice to have for £100m but he is not there biggest priority for the long term future. It’s Kane’s dream more than city’s.

I am not surprised that city have bid for Vlahovic. Firstly he is young and a quality striker and second in business you fuck with your competitors plans.
