Vlahovic definitely has potential but this isn't a risk-free transfer by any means at some of the prices mentioned. He had 1 open play goal up until around Christmas last season, and there's numerous examples of sub-par strikers getting decent numbers in that league. I'd personally hope that if we get him we also go for an additional striker around the same price because I don't really like the idea of all the eggs in this basket.

Don’t look at me. I’m irrelevant.

I agree. Martinez is a much safer bet. But we may not have that option.

Maybe I'm stupid, because even a proven goalscorer can flop. But I'm worried that we sign this guy and no one else. He's young and had one good season so far.

Also im sure I read he wasnt scoring at all in the beginning of the season but then had a great return in the second half.

I personally think he will be a massive player in a few years but I can totally understand the worry from some.

Got to be hones, but I’d never heard of the guy before we were linked. Seems like a big gamble to me.

Again, as already mentioned by others. If he stays at Fiorentina and replicates his goal returns from last season, highly likely we would be out of the running for his services next season.

Risk free, certainly not, but I've also read numerous posts over time suggesting we didn't sign player X,Y or Z early enough and missed the boat as a result.

Certainly appears to have some decent attributes to work with.

This is a deal I am actually pretty confident on, it's one I feel we will get over the line. I know some have concerns because of how we were burnt with Janssen etc but I think this guy has all the tools to go on and be a huge success. Again, he would be very very happy to come.
This guy is way better than Janssen and Serie A much stronger league than Dutch league.

If he signs we'll have to be patient and temper our expectations - there probably isn't a single player in the world that could waltz into the league and replace Harry Kane - but he at least looks like he has the tools to become a top striker.

Watching clips of him compared with Janssen is like night and day (and also in a tougher league).

I’d bet everything he’d be a better Kane replacement than Lautaro, if the system is one up front. If Kane goes want both, but if for some reason we could only sign one, I would choose Vlahovic.

True let's say he repeats this next season and more teams have their finances on order. How much does he go for then? It's why with players like this you can't just be looking at his numbers and instead look at how those goals were scored, and also assess his fundamental abilities. Control, vision, technique etc. From what I've seen and admittedly it's limited he looks to have all that in abundance. I'd like to think Fabio had a far greater sample size to assess him on so if he comes I'm delighted.

i agree and this applies to all players. I find it really frustrating reading discussions on the merits of players or managers (every single dele or mourinho Conv) when the whole thing slides into sophistry and people talking about trophies, goals/assists, opinions ofpeople in the game, anything rather than commenting in thequalities of the player, manager in question. I don’t claim to be the greatest judge in the world as so much is unpredictable but with guys like Doherty it only took some kind of functioning vision, having played football ever and youtube, to see he’s not a player. But at the time everyone kept bellowing ’numbers’ like Rain Man on countdown.
