Can you blame him? Really?

He missed one (albeit a very good) chance against Arsenal and already there were people standing next to me murmurring "16 million ... rubbish ... waste"

What the fuck sort of chance is that? There's been so much pressure been heaped on the lad that he's just collapsed. It makes sense to keep the transfer fees private, don't you think? I understand why they keep a lot undisclosed - it's to stop fuelling a fickle crowd with another round of ammunition

 Absolutely right. The crowd has killed any confidence he had in coming to the club. I still cant understand what difference the fee makes, why the fuck should we as fans care how much players cost? If the club think they are worth the money and the player wants to be here then i couldnt care less what they cost us.

For some reason as Spurs fnas we seem to have this mentality where we have to get a bargain everytime. Whats wrong with paying the going rate or even over the odds if its the player you want?

I don't blame Darren bent One bit!

I think he is a good player and will do well over the long run.

I was merely pointing out that he has already had his confidence shot to bits and is 1 of a group of quality players who's games are going backwards.

Clipped this from The Times..

Sentanta's "touchline reporter" indeedy

Whispers of disaffection are troubling. According to Setanta’s touch-line reporter, it was only at the third time of asking that Berbatov acceded to Jol’s request to warm up in the second half.
That claim was rebuffed. “There is no problem with him,” Jol said. “He knows what the schedule is for the next few weeks. I don’t know where this sort of rubbish is coming from

It seems to me that resting players is a luxury we can’t afford right now. I hate to say this but the cracks are begining to show at an alarming rate now. If things don’t improve fast we could end up being the next Leeds Utd….

Why is it that when you see Rooney or Ronaldo benched at Man U, and then asked to come on, they just do it.......AND are well up for it too!!!
They might not like being on the bench, but as soon as they get their chance, they're off and running again, trying to prove that they shouldn't be on the bench next time!!

..........so why the feck can't our players do the same??? If Berbs really was pissed off, then surely the best way to prove his point was to come on and score a hattrick!!

But truth be told, its not just Berbs, other players do it too. Why can't we just have players that really really want to go and make a difference in a game, whatever it takes.........where's the friggin PASSION!!!!

Jol asked Berbs 3 times to get warmed up. When he eventually decided he was going to do what he had been asked, he casually walked to the touchline and crouched down a bit. Even the commentators were saying things like 'Well he isn't really straining much is he?'

He looked sulky the whole match, and something has very definately happened behind the scenes.

If it had been Ghaly doing that, we'd have demanded he never played for the club again.....

In hindsight, we should have bitten Man Utds hand off, and that goes for Chelsea & Chimbonda too.

Absolute disgrace.

I think Darrren Bent is going to end up being the lead weight around BMJ’s neck. £16M for a third choice striker is a lot of money and I can’t see him hitting a good spell anytime soon as the rotation system is clearly effecting him.

Sorry, didn't mean to come across as having a go, I was agreeing with what you say. And I don't think that there's any doubt that the crowd play a large part in that.

Darren Bent had to be Berbatov when Berbatov was on form - that was where the bar was set. And when he obviously didn't hit the ground at full pelt and meet that level, he was on a hiding to nothing.

I hate this season already. I've also decided I dislike some of our fans (and I'm really not talking about you here Ledge - and there's no trademark Stoofcasm attached with that, I honestly don't mean you!) too.

One of the commentators said it.

berbatov never had a single manager bust up in his 10+ years of professional career.

btw bent wasn't that bad (could've easily scored if was given a decent ball in many situations) but can't compare to berbs indeed.

I dont blame berbs for being pissed off, he played well against liverpool got his touch back, scored for bulgaria then gets dropped for bent who was a good player at charlton and has yet to prove himself at the next level.

I have really stood behind jol all this time but im getting sick now, why was lennon benched?

Anyone who says we should have sold berbs is talking rubbish cant believe that has been suggested its not just him i think the whole squad has lost faith.

Good. Then he'll get on with things now in professional fashion despite being dropped.

Bent was atrocious. I don't care what excuses people give. The fact is it hurts us to have him anywhere near the 1st XI at the moment.

a) How do you know? Not every bust up is all over the papers next day.
b) Even if he hasn't, So what? I've never won the lottery in years of trying. That mean I shouldn't bother cos I'll never win it?

From what I saw during the match last night, it is as clear as can be that all is not well with Berbs, far from it. He looked just about as disinterested as it's possible to look. He had a face like a wet weekend all night, and clearly didn;t want to be there.

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse at the moment, nothing is really going our way, players are starting to look like they aint up for the fight.

Fair weather players are something we do not need. Berbs seems to be this. Even Sherwood said something to the effect of "I wouldn't want him (Berbs) around me, Players like that get you the sack."

Can you imagine what Fergie would do if he had to ask a player to warm up 3 times? At best, they'd be in the reserves for the next 3 months, regardless of who they were.

So Berbs is bigger than the club now?

:bang:

It's not about whether he's happy to be benched or not. Noone expects players to like sitting onb the bench, but when told 'right you're going on' to have a 'Oh....do I really have to?' attitude stinks.

Obviously we don't know what's gone on, and maybe Jol has dissed his mother or something, but the guy's heart is not in it. Surely if you watched the game last night you can see that? It's as plain as the nose on your face.

We all know he's a class player, but at the moment, his attitude, rightly or wrongly, is contributing to our malaise.

Even discounting last nights game, has Berbatov really played well this season? I know it's taboo to criticise him, as he our best player, but, he's not been doing it like we know he can.
There's got be a reason for his lack of form.

Oh, come on. He nearly always looks like that.

Difference is Fergie's team would NEVER be in the bottom 3 after 10 games and keep making piss poor excuses for it. Berby is by far FAR away our best player. I would go as far as to say he saved Jol's neck last season by his run of form after xmas. It was mainly because of Berbatov's sublime play we finished in the very fortunate 5th position last season. It was done inspite of Jol, not because of Jol. Individual brillance by Berby and Keane aswell saved us in too may games.

Jol has been found out this season, big time, when questions have been asked of his team he just dont have the know how to answer them.

I don't blame Berbatov, usually I'd be so fucked off, but we were shit, Bent was shit, he's been shit all season, Berbatov hasn't been himself, but he's still been average at least, if not good.

Last night was not the time to bring Bent into the team, especially after Berbatov had scored in midweek, Bent's struggling, he needs to be brought into games we're winning, or stand up and be counted.

Berbatov must have been so pissed off, our best player by a mile, shortlisted for the Ballon D'or, and dropped for someone who can't finish his fucking breakfast.

This is the first time I've said it but Jol really has to go now, Berbatov's to good of a player to let go over a managerial dispute with a manager who isn't getting results. It's not only him, but alot of the players seemed not to want to play for Jol last night, even Tainio didn't look up for it, and that's saying something.
