Got to say on reflection Villa absolutely bottled it yesterday

Totally changing their style of play is something you do for prime Barca not a top 4 rival below you in the league when playing at home

McGinn building the game up as the biggest in their history when it got a fraction of the fanfare on our side

Also the wankfest over Ollie Watkins seems totally overblown. Flat track bully with large majority of his goals coming against non top 6-8 sides

Although they won at our place, if I recall we should have destroyed them in the first half hour or so, and we looked a level above them before getting suckered in the end. So Emery probably knew that approach wasn't sustainable either.

I think the MOTD analysis where Murphy points out Emery was backing Watkins and Bailey to be dangerous on the break knowing they couldn’t dominate possession against us was pretty spot on tbh. I don’t think it was a huge tactical blunder, I just think they were always going to struggle against the way we play
The MOTD highlights looked like Villa bossed the fist half when it was the complete opposite.
Just goes to show how some people form their opinions on 5 minute reel.

Was away, just came to say it was an excellent performance against a good side who set up to draw. It was the strongest defensively we’ve looked all season. Everyone played well.
I was worried we weren’t going to score as we didn’t look like breaking them down until the goal but then some beautiful football got us the goal which is what you need.
Hopefully this gives us confidence now and we kick on and secure 4th
That's an interesting point actually, that Villa, who are often held up with us as playing brave and attacking football, changed their formation and style to try and counter ours.

I know that when we don't win, a certain section of the fan base love to go on about naivety and the lack of a plan B but the more we play our way amd get used to it, the more opponents will change their style to try and counter it.

That to me is a pretty big sign that we're on the right tracks and teams are beginning to worry about us.

Twitter reminded me how embarassing Villa's official account was after their win at our place earlier in the season.

Our record at Villa Park? 11 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in the last 14 attempts. Only time they beat us was last season under Mason.

No one is doing that here. The logic of them being overrun last time we played and therefore making tactical changes and backing one of the most in form strikers in the league to do ok 1 vs 1 wasn’t as bad a tactical plan as some make out

It was quite bad when you consider it was Watkins vs Romero. As many goals as Watkins has scored this season, he's never winning a battle against Cuti.

It wasn't a terrible plan but it was quite a desperate one, scared even.

my favourite moment of the game was them al chanting the thugs name after the challenge on udogie for about a minute and then the ref getting the red card out making the entire stadium look like mugs. Probably collectively sharing Agbonlahors brain cell... anyone know what time he is on the radio today?

Yeah I thought the analysis was excellent again. They showed well how co-ordinated our press was and I enjoyed when Murphy was basically saying “why are you putting Villa stats up?” when the story of the game was all about and dictated by Spurs.

To summarise:
Beating Villa was a piece of cake
4-0 was the icing on the cake
McGinn getting sent off was the cherry on the icing on the cake 😊

And played free flowing football. Was an incredible performance. People honestly come out with some nonsense on here
Er...we were under the cosh for a massive chunk of that match after going 1-0 up. Hugo was incredible that day. Until we got the second and released the pressure we were in big trouble.

Phew...Just landed back home in US was quite the trip. Was my first away game sitting or rather standing in the Away end. I have to say the difference between a Home game and Away game is considerable. All of the Spurs fans never stopped singing and was in stark contrast to Villa who were flat from the very beginning.

As the goals flew in you find yourself jumping around being hugged by people you don't know but somehow feel a kinship and closeness to. I found myself surrounded by people of all ages and backgrounds with a pure love of Spurs. Genuine people who unlike myself( as I live in Colorado) travel home and away over and over again knowing that the club is bigger than the sum of its parts. There was no poor behaviour or stupidity. It was just good people, supporting the club they love in the hope that one day soon that love is reciprocated with glory.

It was by far and away my best experience at a game and I have been to many. It reminded me why I support Spurs, and I drove to the airport and flew home with a smile on my face the whole way. The chant towards the end ..... "who put the balll in the Villa Net" was a proper chant at the end of a proper game of football.
