I still think if Coentrao doesn't come off, it'll be Pereira. They obviously want shot of him, but under AVB he was deemed a €10m player. AVB must feel he can get the best out of him. Given Inter's desire to get rid, and Benny's struggles to pass a medical, I wouldn't rule out two loans going in opposite directions...

Wasn't Gala apparently in for Coentrao? If this is true, maybe we are indeed closing in on Coentrao so they're changing their sights to Pereira.

Yep. Only 3 destinations have been rumored--Man U, Gala, and us. Gala may have admitted defeat and turned to Pereira. I have tepid enthusiasm though because Man U is still lurking, although Baines is obviously their first choice.

They might be. But I doubt he'd go there.

Mourinho dropped Coentrao to the bench at Madrid.

Mourinho is now at Chelsea and Ashley Cole is one of his favourite players.

Coentrao is desperate to play first team football.

So a move to Chelsea just doesn't add up.

Good combination of strength and speed, but he isn't disciplined enough defensively IMO. You can't be too picky with left backs because there aren't that many great ones but I think we can do better.
