Spurs joined in chase for Inter Milan defender

Estudiantes have joined Tottenham and Spartak Moscow in the race to land out-of-favour Inter Milan defender Alvaro Pereira.

The Uruguay international, who has managed only two Serie A starts this season, is edging closer to the San Siro exit and could leave in January to safeguard his chances of featuring at next summer's World Cup.

talkSPORT told you at the end of the last month that CSKA had already produced an offer for the full-back who played a key role under Andre Villas-Boas during Porto's memorable treble-winning season of 2010/11.

The Spurs coach has been tipped to bring the left-back to White Hart Lane having played Jan Vertonghen out of position for the majority of this season.

But Argentina newspaper El Dia claim Estudiantes are eyeing an ambitious move for the 28-year-old, who previously spent three years in Argentina with Quilmes and Argentinos Juniors.

I think this wouldn't be a bad signing, even though I think he is shit. He is a LB and he would probably be happy to be second choice. I think thats how desperate we are at the moment and unlike Rose he is good going forward.

I would prefer a loan

If those were the only options, I'd still prefer Naughton or Fryers.
Yeah cause they are sooo much better than a regular for one of the top International teams - that England are worried about facing in the World Cup.

I dont think this is a valid point as then we should be looking at every international LB that doesnt play for Moldova or San Marino

My point is that Uruguay are being positioned in much of the media as being better than England. Yet there are people who would prefer Fryers or Naughton as our LB. That's just a bit silly.

England are worried about Suarez and Cavani, not Pereira.
He's also not a regular. Uruguay sometimes play with 3 at the back, and Caceres plays there, with Rodriguez as a wing back

He's shit. There are plenty of options instead of him

I am not the media. Besides Suarez, Cavani, and a couple of another attacking players, Uruguay are a lot worse than England imo. So, no. It's not silly

The do have a team mentality though. But individualy, there are a lot of Uruguay starters that are shit

I accept what saying about better options, I'm just not sure they include Fryers or Naughton.

And what would be wrong with that? Has DL signed 1 player that AVB actually scouted himself and wanted? Arguably no.
