Caught Offside are suggesting that Liverpool are after Adam Johnson and looking at around £16m for his services. Obviously no indication of how true the story or the price is but surely at that price and if available Spurs should also take an interest? He would be a perfect addition in my opinion as he would cover both wings and certainly push, if not replace, Lennon.

I do like Johnson, but the quoted price tag is waaaaaaayy too steep for a City benchwarmer, albeit a talented one.

No worth the sum but anyone to replace Lennon. Lennon should quit and pick up track. Bags of pace with little else. Everytime I see Johnson come in he is a threat. Plus he could teach bale what to do when one cuts in from the side.

£16m is about twice what he is currently worth. Cannot see anyone paying that for him but then again, it's Liverpool.

Good player though. Needs to get playing

I'd have him at the lane. But the highest I'd go would be about £10 million.

If a player is what you need to move the club forward what does it matter how much he costs.

We don't own the club, we are fans. Let Levy worry about the money.

Would Adam Johnson improve us, Yes

Just a reminder—you shouldn't really be starting a player thread unless he's been linked to us by a reputable media source (yes, I know that's a contradiction in terms). CaughtOffside, etc. really don't fall into that category. This ought to be in General Football.

And Private Pike may not be 'worth' £16m, but something of that order will be the asking price.

Think I saw a recent Opta stat that said Lennon had the most accurate crosses in the league this season per games played? Not assists mind, but accurate crosses. Can't remember for sure, but to say he should quit football........I mean, come on.

Sarcasm my friend. Lennon is better than half worse than the rest. I would love to keep him, but I think Adam would step in and take his spot as a starter. Victor Moses excites me more than Lennon as of right now. The best thing Lennon does for me is track back. I will give him that.

Meh.

Would be decent enough back-up for Bale and Lennon, but too high wages for a Krancjar/Pienaar replacement.

I think he'd be an excellent addition to our squad. Can play on both wings, has bags of skill, gets more than his fair share of goals and is still young enough to improve. Would be a significant step up from both Pienaar and Kranjcar and would give us excellent strength in depth on the wings.

Is he worth 16m? If people saw him playing like he does in a foreign league they'd be saying 16m is a steal. I also think most people here, if asked, would say that Lennon is worth around the 15m mark so Johnson has to be worth a similar amount.

The main question is attitude which I understand there is a question mark over. I'm sure that could be sorted out with the right sort of management though.

Possibly would have been a fantastic player had we picked him up a couple of years ago. Too much time spent as a city bench warmer in the last few seasons. He would be much better back up to lennon and Bale than we currently have, but for 16 mil liverpool are welcome to him.

I would like him. Good to rotate with Lennon. But wouldn't want to spend more than £10 million for sure. There's probably better deals out there for wingers of a similar standard.
