I wonder what his salary is?

anther player who cant/wont move due to silly wages at City.
good, saves Spurs from signing him - "this is not the 'droid you're looking for,.... move along DL" ;)

Apparently the Times is linking us with AJ again.

I think this could a shrewd signing. Some peeps remarked that he is lazy, but i think he can provide the competition for Bale/lennon. Creative and scores, and not a plodder like Downing, and does not earn ridiculous wages.

Surely a loan with a view to a perm, is not beyond the realms of possibilty, but would Man Sh1tty loan him to us.....

If he was to come to us as a squad player, i would take him, he is better than Bentley and townsend just now and lennon wont last a full season.

Think he'd be a brilliant addition to our squad. Very much a something out of nothing player. Very skilful and pacey.

I've heard his wages really aren't that high considering he's at city, in the region of 30-40k. Very talented player, would be concerned that the reason mancini doesn't like him is that he's lazy and doesn't cover his fullback - which is a really really bad trait for a winger to have.

Would definitely take for 5/6 mil, we need another winger and he can play both sides

Similar to what I said about Meireles earlier - not needed as essential but would be a top quality player to have in our squad.

The lack of depth in our squad showed itself toward the back of last season for me - don't get me wrong, we had a lot of Jenas/Pienaar/Kranky/Charlie/Bentley/Gio backup players but none of them are real top-draw midfielders like Johnson who on his day would get in to any PL XI.

You list six players as highlighting our lack of squad depth last season. Two were on loan (stupidly, IMVHO, and would have provided excellent high quality cover), two were injured and the other two RatKnip just would not play, no matter how many times he said they were still in his plans and promised them game time.

He has several off-the-field issues and a very questionable attitude towards his work. He will be a slightly risky gamble for anyone who takes him on.

The defensive side to his game in terms of pressing and tracking back is also lacking.

I don't know whether its been mentioned at all, but he hasn't even made the City matchday squad today. Hmmmmm.

I don't rate him all that highly. If we could get him on a cheap loan like we did Adebayor last season then I wouldn't be completely against it.

Yeah, he's certainly no superstar, but I'm sure he'd rather be sitting on our bench having 20-30 minute cameos each week than playing for City reserves. Plus, I'd personally rate him higher than Gio or Townsend!

I think if we could get him on loan or for a small fee he'd probably be worth it.

I've always liked him. He does well whenever he comes on, plays well for England too, at a different club I think he could do well. Obviously he needs to be cheap.

One note about the city squad today, Dzeko and Ballotelli on the bench, sheesh. o_O

I rather have Ben Arfa, I wanted him at the beginning of the window and I still want him now

Yeah the Times also think, the move is dependent on us selling Lennon. o_O

However AJ on a loan would be great. However, I would rather see Gio given one more chance, as I think he can make it under AVB.

I actually think he is very good. Has a lovely cross on him and can score as well. Would be excellent cover and competition, if there are any off the field issues they can be sorted, if they are tht bad then a wide birth. I think he is much better than Bentley at the same age.

I think he is a canny player who will probably come good a little later in his career but I dont think signing him would be the right move for us or the player at this stage. Also, there is no way you could sign him for loess than 10m, the same pretty much applies to any outfield current England international.

I see him as someone who would be pushing for a first team place if he joined us, not just a squad player. Both Bale and Lennon need to be challenged.

its only opinions but i think we should sign him , he can play left wing and right wing and could probably play behind a striker as well, he has a great cross, good skill on the ball and a powerful shot, as long as the wages arent stupid he would add some great depth.

He would add a different dimension to what we had with Niko Krancjar and perhaps give us what we didn't quite get from Steven Pienaar

Stumbled on a live chat by Jamie Sanderson. Is he worth reading? Here's his reply to a question about Johnson:

"Sunderland is his main interest, because they're his boyhood club. Tottenham would be the best option in terms of success, but Everton the best to develop him. I worry whether Sunderland and Everton can afford him, and reckon he might end up at either Liverpool or Tottenham."
