This has been really poor. Defence and PEH can’t play out effectively, Perisic has the touch of an old man, Solomon needs calm down hold the ball with more composure and Richy again is barely a presence up front. We’re still badly badly lacking QUALITY depth

Of course it is. Much more important in the long run, and much more enjoyable to have Champions League nights than chasing cups that actually mean very little except for a day the sun. At least that's how it looks to someone who lives abroad, and doesn't share the obsession for domestic cup success. I've never been upset about cup failure, unless it is a lost final. This season without Europe is a bit different but still i think that the most important thing is to start rebuilding towards league stability and chase top 4 again.
