We'll all there lapping it up on the weekend as it will actually be Ange's style on display with a team who look like they actually know each other rather than just met 5 minutes ago

last night it wasn't and that is why people are pissed off.
It’s the nine changes and expecting a cohesive display that annoyed me. No other team does it successfully. You learn more by playing a near strength side with two to three changes and integrating them into the playing style of the others. You then keep that rotation going over a number of games. It’s what city and Liverpool do and then as the season unwinds you play your full strength team with only a few minor amendments. For me Ange learned nothing last night. If had played Gio with Biss and Sarr we all would have learned more on how he could fit in. Imagine you are Gio and are asked to play the Maddison role without the two players that allow Maddison to excel. No wonder he was not invigorated.

We lost to Fulham away, on penalties. The same team who fought to draw away at The Scum with 10 men just last weekend

I don’t quite see the disaster here - it was disappointing but surely not massively unexpected with a new manager, trying to work out which players are good for building on and which are not good enough as starters in the longer term.

Let’s not fulfil the “Spurs fans are entitled” stereotype and accept that we do not have a balanced or settled squad, with a few days of the transfer market still left, some players do not know if they will stay or go and a manager slowly imprinting his ideas on a team who have played drastically different football for the last 4 years.

I love the rapid change in our style of play, Postecoglu has already managed to instil because we are great to watch. It will take him a few months and at least two transfer windows to start proving his worth, no?

There is nothing entitled about constructively criticising a manager making 9 changes, allowing our least technical player to take the third penalty and overseeing an insipid performance.

Our roles as fans is to support and speak as we find...not be mindless sycophants, surely?

On the District line heading to Blackfriars after the game. Still not sure why he changed so many. VDV is a player , was down the side watching it and when he comes at you at speed he’s horrible to play against. Was limping after one challenge though . Felt a bit sorry for lo celso having skipp and Hoijberg playing with him rather than Sarr and Bissouma. I think his attitude wasn’t right though, had his head down a lot .
Frustrated and annoyed but at least there’s no doubting anyone at the club that the squad although bloated is very thin on talent after the first 12-14 players.
I felt more sorry for Skipp and Hojbjerg having to play alongside Lo Celso.

We’re out of a cup, we maybe had a good chance of winning, in our first game but Ange will have learnt a lot from tonight. That’s comforting.
Not for you, it would seem.
Look, nobody wanted to get knocked out but there are some mitigating circumstances this time, enough for me not to get to upset about it at least.

I can’t believe the number of you who are making excuses for Postecoglou. He’s in a job to win trophies. You don’t experiment when you’ve drawn a PL team away. A League 1 or 2 team at hone maybe but to do it against a good PL team away from home is criminal negligence.
I'm not convinced that is the job that the chairman has brought him in to do to be honest. I suspect he has been told that securing some sort of European football next season is the main aim and everything else takes a back seat to that.

I think it's the more emotional posts that this was aimed at.
There's nothing wrong with being critical and I think the majority of us thought that 9 changes was too much, and I'm pretty sure Ange will know that too (now).
It's just some people have been going way over the top with their fury and hyperbole. It's the extremes that stand out in this thread.

As for the penalties, I was under the impression that it's usually up to the players to put themselves forward, so again, Ange will have learnt a lot about the mentality of some of our "B team".

Just watched this on Spursplay. To me it was just a scrappy cup game. Neither side on top for any period of time. Draw was probably about right.
Forster getting ridiculed in the penalty shootout, but kept us in it with a great save from a header from Muniz.
Really should learn to take the match day thread with a very large pinch of salt because most of the comments are rubbish and not what actually happened.
One thing that the thread got correct was the away kit. Gash.
Disappointing, but seriously not that bad. Still unbeaten.

I'm disappointed, but I'm in this for the long run.

Im not disappointed much with Ange, I believe the club is discincentivising the cups. No proof of it of course, but that my view given how a succession of managers have all done the same thing.

Spot on. Your Lo Celso example is a perfect illustration of why picking that lineup was wrong if AP really wanted to see how the other squad players would perform.

Why are some blaming Ange, he needs 25 decent players not fucking 11. This is on the club/Enic/Levy. This is not on Ange.
No doubt when we get a few decent results again then some will say keep Sanchez, Hojbjerg, Skipp as they are decent backups.
Wake up, smell the coffee, and stop pretending everything is alright.
Plus we got 100m quid burning a hole in our pockets and the squad badly in need of a striker with barely 2 days of the window to go.

We all knew there would be a few bumps in the road as we rebuilt but last night seems self inflicted. This great club has an uncanny ability to shoot itself in the foot. Get some optimism going and a few smiles on the faces of the supporters, but wait for that almighty kick in the bollocks that inevitably follows.
I am certain however that Ange learnt the hard way last night, what most of us already knew ie that one way or another the deadwood needs to go and fast.

Agree with everything here other than the first line.

I think I speak for most when I say that we're not freaking out because of the performance in the game.
The issue is that we have put out our B squad in the cup for the umpteenth time in the last 10 years. The only cup we have prioritised in the last decade is the Champions League, and we have borderline given up on competing for any other cup in favour of trying to get into the Champions League. It's been posted already but I'm going to post it again.

Does anyone still think Hojbjerg is great?

I bet as soon as he’s left his defenders will turn.
