My minds abit hazey due to the anger of this ridiculous law.

But what examples of poor finishes did we have today?

Diers obviously. Lo Celso central to goal with weak shot. What others?
Kane's header? Maybe he could have done better with that? Son pretty much clean through and didn't shoot, other than that I can't remember anything too bad, but that doesn't mean there weren't any..........That's just off the top of my head.

I'm just so mad, everybody played so well today, they deserved those 3 points. We are really building something here and to see those 2 points just makes me fucking sick to my stomach.

Cheers. So who's likely to have come up with this law. Is there a head of refereeing within?
IFAB is basically the body that sets the rules of the game. All national football associations set the governance of their national frameworks in accordance with IFAB's work. The PL implemented the handball rule this year, but it was actually drawn up in 2017 (I think) but individual confederations and associations have implemented it over the last three years. UEFA implemented it in the CL two years ago, for instance. It's the same rule that awarded Liverpool their penalty against us in the CL Final.

I had a feeling not killing the game off would come back to bite us on the arse.

We played well though, so despite the shambles at the end there are lots of positives to take from that game.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce talking to Sky Sports: "I can understand why Spurs will go beserk and Roy Hodgson reacted like he did. It is a total nonsense, we should be jumping through hoops but I would be devastated if that was us. Maybe Roy is right, maybe we all need to get together. The decisions are ruining the spectacle. We have to get together as managers and say this must stop.
Well done, Brucey ??????

Just seen this on the BBC

Just in case, you were here and wondering what all this handball fuss is about, this precis of the laws of the game was initially posted in yesterday's Premier League live:

  • Hand/arm is clearly away from the body and outside the "body line" .
  • Player clearly leans into the path of the ball.
  • Ball travels some distance.
  • Ball touches hand/arm that is clearly raised above the shoulder.
  • Player falls and the hand/arm is extended laterally or vertically away from the body.
  • Deflection clearly makes no difference to the ball touching a hand/arm that is clearly extended away from the body and/or above the shoulder
  • You were born with two arms
(Ok, I might have added the last point)
Dier did not "lean into the path of the ball" and the ball did not "travel some distance".

For the block by Lascelles' arms, the ball did travel some distance and the player did raise his arms into the path of the ball. Surely it was more of a penalty than the one awarded against Dier? His arms weren't as high as Dier's, but the part of his arm that contact the ball was outside the line of his body, the ball travelled mutlple times further, and he was looking at the ball.

Last week for the handball against Doherty, the ball did not travel some distance and a deflection clearly made a difference to the ball.

It seems that either the rules you've listed above aren't quite accurate or the officials aren't applying them properly, because that's three out of three incorrect decisions against us by those rules. Either way, we've been screwed over three times in the space of 180 minutes.

Football is dead until they change that rule.
We completely dominated them, should’ve taken more chances sure but we hit the bar twice and keeper made some good saves so no complaints just change the handball rule, absolute disgrace.

I think that's the hardest I've seen Spurs fucked over. Lasagne gate, Mendes goal, the time a linesman disallowed a goal against us because the defender was playing the striker onside by such a margin the lino didn't even see him.

So the don’t even bother to check our calls but immediately jump at the chance to check the Newcastle one and a few others. Perhaps the bloke sitting in the VAR room had bias against Spurs. Not that we would ever know because the FA would cover it up anyway.

The game is corrupt.

Harsh rule but correctly applied.

The game should've been killed off long before then. We were walking a tightrope as long as it remained 1-0. We can fu@king bitch and moan all we want but it doesn't change anything. Couldn't convert our chances. Couldn't deal with Carroll when he came on.

And Dier is still a complete and utter waste of fu@king space. Offers absolutely zero. Missed an open header. Can't pass, can't tackle, has the mobility of a London bus. A liability. Every opponent will clearly target him. Useless.

Can we just ban people like this for a week? How could you post something so negative after what just happened? We were comfortable at 1-0. Newcastle didn’t muster a single shot for the last few games. Our players have traveled More than 5000 miles in a week with another ridiculous schedule coming up next week so of course fatigue is going to set in. Dier wasn’t a liabity and we only drew because of a new stupid rule which makes zero sense which the rest of the PL are teams are questioning. It’s just extremely lucky that we are on the end of the decision. Posting crap like this is what actually annoys me more than the decision!

He literally had nothing much to do until Carroll came on. It's not his fault it was a daft handball, but his defending at both set pieces was poor. Carroll's looking at his shirt number, which as a defender you shouldn't allow the attacker to do. Dier hasn't learned how to defend set pieces properly and makes cock ups time and again.
He was pushed by Lascelles(?) who was behind Dier. Carroll will win 9/10 ariel duels. It's about picking up the second ball around him, which we did.

Come on now, it isn't blaming the broadcaster its voting with your wallet. Stop paying and they will look into the reasons why, sadly no where near enough people are going to be switching off, but I certainly am.

I get it. But it’s a case of cutting off nose to spite face. I’ve felt like it before and in fact did quit Sky a few years ago cos I was sick of seeing Thierry Henry’s mug ?. That said the mugs know we will be back as not watching is not an option. 5 live only appeals for a bit.

I just cannot believe this was the intention for f the rule makers. This must be down to the moronic interpretation of the referees. How have we gone from the stupid rules when handball in the build up of a goal to the other extreme when defending?

The refs need to come out and defend their decisions, talk us through what Dier could have done different for it not to be a penalty. There has to be some form of intent for it to be a penalty, making himself bigger etc, otherwise what are they penalising?

I already hated VAR because it stops you being able to celebrate a goal but this is now just stupid.

Anyone with sense could have made a consequence analysis at the and realised how stupid this was going to get.
