If we could negotiate a deal whereby a significant chunk of the £50m for Sessegnon is tied to league and international appearances, goals, etc. then we could negate a lot of the risk in that transfer. After Bale and Alli, you can totally understand lower league clubs being careful not to undervalue their prized assets where we're concerned, and it really does look like Sessegnon is a future star in the making.
I think if we don't get something agreed before the end of this season, we'll likely miss out. Other richer clubs will pay significantly more up front, and the price may even increase if his form persists and after the new Premier League TV deal is publicised.
Fulham hold all of the cards on this one. As Herc says, it seems like Sessegnon's team struck a deal that is way too favourable to Fulham, and they can ignore what the player wants and push for the highest fee. Sessegnon tried to do right by the club that developed him by signing a new deal but he might be regretting that decision soon if Fulham get too greedy.
