Like loaning out players like Smith, Mason, Pritchard, fucking stupid IMO. These kids should be training around the first team group and getting bits and bobs of first team football. And now we are talking about loaning out Tom Carroll FFS.

They may not ultimately be good enough long term but these players have enough ability to at least deserve testing at the right (our) level instead of constantly being chucked down two levels with the shit kickers of the football league.

It really troubles me that we are not using a great academy wisely. Who do you think is ultimately responsible for the jumbled integration policy LLM ? Would be really interested to know what you think.

On the plus side, at least Dempsey going. Do they teach laziness in Texas too ?
I think you're totally wrong about the loan system. To me it is working great and sorting the wheat from the chaff.

I heard some stories from about the academy 10 years ago where all the youth players used to swan around like they've made it because they've got a contract at Spurs, and they'd all regress and fall away.

If you look at the players who've suceeded on loans in the last few years, Caulker, Townsend, Naughton, etc, they're looking like they will all have careers, maybe not at Spurs, but in the PL.

The likes of Parrett, Bostock and others who could not even cut it in League Two probably aren't mentally tough enough, and that's what is built up by playing lots and lots of competitive football - toughness and game awareness.

Been out whoring. Nothing much. Ali G says Bale's agency stand to make £10m if he moves. Quite an incentive if accurate.

Edit: Lol - spot the typo. ;)

I know this could be pure optimism but I simply don't see how the money works on a potential Bale transfer.

Spurs - ENIC's number 1 priority is the new stadium. For this they need a sponsor and have failed to find one at the right level hence Levy's sacking last week of our sponsorship manager. They' must see their best shot of getting the sponsorship is having one of the world's 3 best players at the club. The right deal if they find it is worth in the hundreds of millions and even if RM pay 100m and you sign a replacement for 40m that is only net 60m

Bale - He is building a brands and the value of it is rising. Building that brand is easier in the Prem where he is clearly top dog than in La Liga where he is behind Messi and Ronaldo. Most importantly at Spurs he owns the brand whereas at RM they would own his brand.

I think both the club and Bale's silence is because it suits both as it gives column inches and furthers both brands.

Here's hoping I'm right.

Exactly. Bale won't leave and the end result of all this speculation is merely the acknowlegment of the world that we have the most expensive player on the globe at the club, thus increasing our sponsorship potential exponentially. Genius move from Levy ;)

I find myself oddly calm about the Bale situation. I still think that all this faff is just going to lead to a new bumper contract, but even if he does go I'm confident that we will have a contingency plan. It is an odd feeling.

I have been say the same thing for $ho. I honestly don't think he is gonna go. Call me deluded, but I have this gut instinct

Still believe what I thought earlier in the week. Levy and RM on the 6/7th in Miami. It will then be sorted out one way or the other. I honestly don't think anyone knows at the moment - even DL himself.

Stump up you mothers or see ya, same time same place next year. Ciao

Its pretty much the sole driving force behind it.
Don't get me wrong, am not saying Gareth Bale has no interest, but this would not be being pushed so hard if there wasn't a substantial wad of cash to be had for the group that represents Bale. Last year of their contract, they will do everything in their power to force this to happen now.

Exhibit A as to why agents are destroying the game (along with too much money).

Bale - happy at spurs until his agent realised he could make north of 10m on one transaction.

I have resigned myself to Bale going. There is just too much smoke. This "injury" was supposed to be just a knock, then he doesn't feature for weeks. Avb's rhetoric definately changed in Hong Kong. Then all the media speculation (even if alot of it is clearly bullshit).

The silence from Bales camp is defeaning, if he wanted to stay then he would have said something by now. Also if Levy was taking the same stance as the Modric situation then imo he would do the same thing. i.e. make a statement.

Then there is the most accurate ITK saying he's going. POTL also hasn't said anything since the Bale shitstorm started and in all the years I've been on this forum he has always quashed bad news.

Then there is the fact that we've spent nearly £50m and smashed our transfer record for a 28yard old. Completely un Levy like.

All of these things can be argued against but when you put them all together its too compelling for me. I really hope i'm wrong.

What worries me is that without CL I can't see us signing enough top quality players to make up for Bale's asbense. Even if we do, major changes will mean another transitional season (fuck me, never mind word of the day, "transition" is like word of the fucking century for us Spurs fans). We can't say that other teams having new managers will weaken them as they need time to settle in but not apply the same logic to us.

The only way we can absorb Bale leaving imo is to allow us to use the money to adress the one still major weakness for me : a creative flair player to unlock defences and feed the likes of Soldado. Even if Bale stays we still need this player imo but we've already probably spent our budget. If we can somehow get Coentraou and use the Bale money to get a direct replacement ( he wont be as good but very few are) but more importantly add another quality player of the Mata/Carzola type then we may be able to still challenge for top four. Without this though, its another fight for 5th/6th i'm afraid.

I heard a story not long ago about a guy who lost a game on Football Manager and spat at the screen.

There was a video that went viral some years ago of a German kid going batshit mental at his computer over FM. It was the days of those massive CRT monitors... I'm sure he smashes some stuff up

Whilst I agree about learning with players in training, it's match time (competitive) that'll sort the good from the not so good.

Ideally a loan to a lower prem team, but Championship is also good. So it seems it's more of the players in between ressies/first team that do the loans, rather than the development piece itself.

Only way to know if someone is ready, is by getting matches, rather than in training where intensity is never as high.

Which is why scraping our reserve team was bizarre

I think it mostly has to come from AVB, he has to be passionate about giving them chances and backing his ability to improve them and get them playing at PL level rather than buying the next quick fix. Case in point Caulker, not the best CB ever and lacking in some areas but being young that will happen, I think he has shown enough to be persisted with over the next year or two rather than the manager give up on him after one season and seemingly buy some random Romanian finished article instead.

As you mention, Carroll is the obvious one. What good is a loan going to do if he is stuck with inferior players/shit pitches/ poor quality football? But there are others, I think Townsend is very raw but has a lot of potential (far more raw skills than Lennon for instance) if he has good players around him he can learn off. I bet he is next one out the door though. One of the things we kept hearing about AVB is that he was someone ideal to bring through the promising youth players and maximise our investment in the Training facilities, and I know it doesn't happen overnight, but I see near zero interest in this area from him so far. Disappointing.

Whoever is sorting out these loans has lost the plot though. I don't know why Pritchard et al have been sent to League One or what that achieves. Seemingly sacrificing a year of their development to establish a partnership with Swindon, one of the more unstable clubs out there. Others have got stuck in championship loan after championship loan. Needs to be re-focused.

Money changes all mindsets at the end of the day. If we made Bale the highest paid player in the prem and more than real would be willing to offer he'd soon come out and say he has not intention of leaving his boyhood club:ROFLMAO:

there's no true loyalty in this game, and that works both ways really

Hello!
My first post :)
Woke up this morning inside AVB's head. My First thought was to Bale out but decided to stay.
So why the roumors about Dempsey and Siggy?
GK - lloris, Brad, Gomes
LB - Rose, Fryers
CB - Vertonghen, ?
CB - Kaboul, Dawson
RB - Walker, Naughton
DM - Sandro, (Parker) or (Huddle)
DM - Paulinho, Livermore
(A)CM - Dembele, Holtby, Carrol
LW - Lennon, Chadli
CS - Soldier, Defoe, (Adde)
RW - Bale, thownsend

Out:
Dempsey
Gylfi
BAE
Hudd or Parker or (Livermore)

Then i think if he could then he would replace Adde whit a player like Bernard that can play in more places.
So the main target must be a CB :)

Maybe not the best spelling but a few thougts from little me :)

I'm intrigued how Bale picked up such an unusual injury. Was A&C in Hong Kong with one of his "persuaders".
