Can’t be true. Have we had any actual ITK on James? I like the squad we have but would be gutted if we weaken it by swapping Lucas for james

Strange times for a deadline day, the club is in full lockdown and has been for a few days now. Between us we are all hearing similar.... We are trying for players but we are getting very limited information as to who we are currently trying to get in before close of play. We have 2 that could potentially leave today(plus Gil) but as Conte has said that won't happen unless replacements come in, and I doubt we let both go tbh. The club is 100% taking every precaution to hide any potential business. What I can say I have been told is that we already have an eye on January. Now my interpretation of that would be a player we've tried for, can't get, and their club needs them to sign a new contract. So Bastoni or Zaniolo, but that's just me taking an educated guess based on limited information. If that's the case then we clearly won't be looking to spend huge money on a player in that position now.

As for today, I wouldn't rule anything out, Be that 2 or 3 in, or even no one at all, as I genuinely have no idea how this will pan out. Hope to be able to bring a bit more as the day goes on and things progress.:)

When has deferring business to the next transfer window ever worked out?

Four months in football is basically a lifetime and waiting that long for anything is a gamble.

I'd just advise... Have no expectations. At best you may end up elated, but at least you won't be disappointed.
Tbh considering the only name in the press is James I’d be pretty happy if we just kept and played Gil. Obviously it would be nice for last minute VDV becoming available or for ether Roma or Inter to open the door if ether play said they def weren’t signing a new deal. But I know that’s incredibly unlikely so have come to terms with nothing happening.

Looking at what Trix just said about having an eye on January it could be that players who are trying to make a world cup squad don't want to move clubs this late in the summer window if they aren't assured of a starting place in our team. Why risk missing out on a world cup place when you could stay as a starter in your current team? Post world cup they may well be open to the possibility of moving.

If we can’t get who we want this window don’t i to you think that’s sensible. Better than blowing money on a 5th or 6th choice option and then being stuck with them on a long contract taking up squad space.

But in this regard we have clear targets. Both players contracts run out in 23, it’s been clear all summer that Bastoni and Zaniolo are the ones Conte wants above all other. If we have been told by their parties they are keen to come then, although frustrating, I can see why waiting makes sense as both players valuations will already have started to drop by Jan. obviously tho there is the risk that they change their minds and sign new deals but if we are fairly certain they won’t then there is logic to it.

Right I'm not going to do this today, if the stuff I post starts getting twisted(like usually happens) just to be negative I'll just not post. I very clearly said I didn't know what that meant, and that bit of my post was a guess on my part.

I mentioned your words falling on Deaf ears. You and the other ‘blues’ really add to TDD so don’t be put off by some who clearly just want to read what they want to regardless of the words you write ?

Surely this is or should be the M.O. of a Spurs supporter at the best of times. Is mine anyway. Thanks Trix
